外文标题：Gambia breaks off diplomatic ties with Taiwan
BANJUL, Gambia: Gambia said on Thursday it had broken off diplomatic relations with Taiwan after 18 years, citing the "national interest".
Gambia was one of only a handful of African countries to retain ties with Taiwan at a time when China is pumping billions of dollars into the continent.
President Yahya Jammeh said diplomatic ties, established in July 1995, would end immediately.
"This decision has been taken in our strategic national interest," said a statement issued by his office.
"Despite the end of diplomatic ties with Taiwan, we will still remain friends with the people of Taiwan."
Gambia is a small fry for China. The rise of China showing its effects.
Its called "MONEY POWER".

China considers everything as its part, be it aksai chin, Arunachal Pradesh, Taiwan or any other place around its territory. Not to forget Tibet which has been fighting for years together to free itself. China has been trying to wipe of cultural identity of every place which it feels belongs to itself. By the buy .. yeh Gambia kaun hai ? too tiny to have any impact on the international political set up.

The Han are very enterprising people, they believe in hard work and do not believe in taking things lightly like most other races like we Indians. Whatever they are or in whichever position they are in, is the result of their hard work, national pride / racial pride and some shrewd diplomacy. If any other race in the world possess all these 3 qualities, they'd have made similar impact in the world, as the PRC did.
Fare weather friends should be avoided at all cost.

CHINA NEEDLING TAIWAN.THE NEEDLE IS GAMBIA.
So it's obvious that the relations based on money has no existence at all. I don't understand, why India is so close to China, our relations would have been better with Taiwan.

Taiwan's population is only 23 million, while China's is 1340 million, India's respective trade figures with the two countries are $1.5 billion, and $70 billion. So it is quite obvious as to which side of the bread is buttered, and therefore the entire world will ignore Taiwan. In today's globalised regime it is the size of the market which counts, and as one politician said 70 years back " in poltics there are no permanent friends or enemies only permanent interests", this proverb has become even stronger now.
