外文标题：Flight MH370: Malaysia says jet crashed in Indian Ocean; China wants evidence
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia said on Monday that a missing jetliner had crashed into the Indian Ocean, an announcement that was greeted with hysteria by Chinese relatives of those on board and a demand by China that Kuala Lumpur share all the evidence it had on the incident.
Citing groundbreaking satellite-data analysis by the British company Inmarsat, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said that Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which vanished more than a fortnight ago while flying to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, had crashed thousands of miles away in the southern Indian Ocean.
His statement may go some way toward tamping down some of the more fevered speculation about the plane's fate, including one theory some grief-stricken relatives had seized on: that the plane had been hijacked and forced to land somewhere.
All 239 people on board were presumed dead, airline officials said on Monday.
Najib's announcement opens the way for what could be one of the most costly and challenging air crash investigations in history.
The launch of an official air crash investigation would give Malaysia power to coordinate and sift evidence, but it may still face critics, especially China, which had more than 150 citizens on board the missing plane and has criticised Malaysia over the progress of the search.
The Inmarsat data showed the Boeing 777's last position was in the Indian Ocean west of Perth, Australia, Najib said in a statement.
"This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites," he said. "It is therefore, with deep sadness and regret, that I must inform you that, according to this new data, Flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean."
Chinese deputy foreign minister Xie Hangsheng immediately demanded all relevant satellite-data analysis from Malaysia that demonstrated how Malaysia had reached its conclusion about the fate of the jet.

Looks like a random comment from Malaysia. There has to be traceable evidence to support how they arrived at this conclusion that the plane ended up in the ocean!

Something is extremely fishy. Without even hard evidence, how come Malaysian govt could claim it has crashed. This is a sensitive issue and it may be a part of some larger conspiracy. China is correct in asking evidence. Everyone should be asking. It is very strange that in this days of geolocation we cannot track a flight. Its good to see we have more incompetent people in the world.
Rajender (BAND WAGON)
It is natural of China asking for concrete proof as most of the passengers were Chinese and the flight was to fly to Beijing.

YES IT INDEED NEEDS PROOF . STILL HOPE THAT PLANE MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIJACKED
Indian government should extend all possible help to China, which lost over 150 of its people in the mishap, in retrieving the sunken aircraft. In this hour of crisis, the Indian government should get over all its reservations in this regard

Seems Malaysia is no more interested and frustrated over the incident, hence releasing this irresponsible statements. Show us some proof that how you concluded it...
In such incidents, it is better to hold off hasty conclusions without hard evidence. It will take weeks to months to locate the wreckage, even if if the crash area is narrowed down. Not sure why Malay PM is in a hurry to declare the crash. Is he trying to save money by calling off or cutting down the search efforts? Or is he trying to cover their failure to name the cause and trace the plane even after 16 days of its disappearance ?
I simply cannot believe it. In this crucial time before major discovery, Malaysia government send a text to everyone saying your brother/father/sister/mother/aunty/uncle is dead. And sorry we cant confirm or tell you why. Serious??? Are you guys even human? Umm human suffering no? God the way they handled this really sets my blood boiling.

China has raised a valid point. There was Indian citizen also in the flight. Why, there is no concern for our citizen from our government. we also should know all the details. the hijacking theory is not vanished yet. Malaysia must divulge all the facts in detail.

Who cares if one Indian dies? The person in the plane is not a diplomat right? So who cares. May not be even a vote bank..

They just got the hint of location 2 days back. Instead of increasing the search operation they GIVEUP !! At-least they could acquire a piece of physical evidence before concluding!!!
It was a terror act and now they want to save their face.

Bit suspicious unless they find any parts of aircraft. Looks like Malaysia just want to close investigation to rush Insurance claims.
The US has already started the search for the black box. If they succeed, it may be possible to get more and credible information as to what transpired that led to the crash.

I will never take Malaysia Airline flight.
It is clear that the Malaysian jetliner is lost for ever.
