PLA still 30 years behind the US military: expert
While the People's Liberation Army continues to acquire more advanced weapon systems, it will still take China at least 30 years to compete with the United States and build the world's most powerful military force, according to Dennis J Blasko, a former US military attache to Beijing, in an article written for the Jane's Defense Weekly on Sept. 27.
"虽然PLA接连获得了先进的武器系统，但是中国想要匹敌美国并建立世界最强的军事力量至少需要三十年。"前美国驻中国武官Dennis J Blasko在写给简式防务周刊的文章中这样写道。
Blasko said that weapon systems and equipment are crucial for China's military modernization, but he stressed that the training of its military personnel is far more important if the PLA hopes to challenge the position of the United States. He added a PLA officer once told him that acquiring new weapon systems is not the only goal as it does not mean victory on the battlefield.
For this reason, Blasko stated that China fully realizes the importance of training its soldiers to operate advanced weapon systems properly. Without enough combat experience in modern warfare environment, leaders of the PLA also know that the military is still 20-30 years behind its American counterpart.
A 2008 China Defense White Paper pointed out that the modernization of the PLA will not be completed until the mid-21st Century. The PLA is now conducting military exercises to speed up this development. For example, China now holds aerial training exercises similar to the United States Air Force's aerial war games, or "Red Flag" exercises, Blasko said. PLA soldiers and officers are also being trained to combat electronic and cyber warfare, he added.
what about india?? 50 years??
once kaveri and some other object we will reach close to 40 years
abhi 50 tab 40 reh jayenge progress slowly hogi
No matter about that, air quality is more important,China Open in Beijing meets bad air condition, maybe next time no foreign players want to join the game....
and I think china is 20 yrs behind US
Unless Chinese can project power beyond SCS there is no reasons for US to get concerned about them as they are not much of a threat globally.
us fighters are around 14k, 12 active carriers...
while china has 1 active carrier (may b 2) and around 3.5k fighters....
china has a long way to go
even if you have the best equipment ... the moral of a soldiers or the arm forces is also important ... asian countries arm forces compensate the outdated weapon systems with very high moral ...
Moral is not usually very high when you know your equipment is going to get you killed.
When I was in the USSR they were clearly 20 years behind the USA and with the Cluster F from the dissolution of the USSR I doubt if it got any better and maybe became worse. Any country can put a tremendous amount of resources into any individual project but in the county does not have the inferstructure to back it up it never works out over the long haul.
