原文标题：Eve-teasers in India team raise a stink in China
BEIJING: Indian officials managing a youth delegation found themselves struggling to curb rampant harassment of girls by a section of the boys during their week-long tour of China. Desperate officials were forced to separate men and women in separate buses to avoid an untoward incident, according to some of the delegations members.
“I wonder if the youth affairs ministry chose some of the boys on the basis of their ability to use abusive language and harass girls,” one of the women in the delegation told TNN. The 100-member team returned to India Saturday after spending 10 days at the invitation of the Chinese government.
Ministry secretary Nita Chowdhury told reporters in Beijing delegation members were chosen on the basis of their community service and certain special qualities out of different organizations like the government-backed National Social Service and the Nehru Yuva Kendra besides different political parties and university outfits.
Women members complained to both Chaudhury and the ministry in New Delhi before officials stepped in and asked some of the boys to behave, TNN was told. At one stage, a section of the troublemakers were ordered to keep out of a sightseeing tour and stay in their hotel rooms.
“Some of us were feeling ashamed being seen with these boys. We were hoping officials from the Nehru Kendra and the ministry were more strict. But they seemed helpless as well,” a male member of the delegation said.
Officials talked about punishing and blacklisting the trouble makers, but it was a pointless threat because no one is hardly ever picked up on a youth exchange program a second time.
Some of the youth delegation, which is supposed to represent the best qualities of Indian youth, made lewd remarks on the dressing style of some Chinese girls and called them “chinkis”.
They also nagged at girls in the delegation from the northeast. By the time the delegation moved to Inner Mangolia as part of the tour, the misbehaving boys began commenting on some north Indian girls as well, sources in the delegation said.
The tour also caused differences between the youth affairs and external affairs ministry over the Chinese decision to refuse visa to a member from Arunachal Pradesh. The external affairs ministry was peeved because it had been kept in the dark over the issue, sources said.

Wonderful, and now you know why Anil Kapoor got a role in Mission Impossible 4 as a foolish skirt-chaser… because that is the image of India in the minds of foreigners. Thanks to the Khaps, boys don’t get enough girls when they are young, so they misbehave when they grow up. Hyper-egoistic, hyper-sensitive about patriotism (but they will themselves p!ss and sh!t on the road), they know how backward the country is, but they will bark about “10th biggest economy in the world”. 10th biggest means there are 9 countries more powerful than you, so please just shut up. Wheather its making issue of foods, reaching late for meeting, making noise, teasing or passing comments on others, praising too much of ourself etc. In 1987, our youth delegation to Moscow was recieved by few Soviets who had Hindi course. Why is TOI so mad at this? These men are just doing what they see and read in the English media today. You guys are the advocates of live-in-relations, women’s freedom to dress (skimpily) in public, on-night stands, no moral policing, bare-it-all photo displays (I have never seen a bare it all photo or so much news about sex on the front page of any credible news website anywhere in the world). In the western world, people dress the way they dress because thats their culture and it may be good for them but in our society, there is a lot of disparity in culture and levels of understanding and social maturity and ways of thinking of the people. So a skimpily dressed girl when seen anywhere on the road naturally attracts attention by all and some hooligans try to take advantage of the situation. Our police and security are equally lame and are already over burdened with their job and are incapable to protect us on this front. The English media and TOI needs to understand this and not become advocates of any lewd behavior under the false pretext of individual freedom. In the kind of society we live, its our responsibility to protect us and not expect it from the police or our “leaders”

I wish people like you could change their way of thinking… that alone shall make lot of difference. Be brave and have courage to call Wrong as Wrong… Do u know how many maid servants in India are raped every year. Do u know how many young girls in villages and other areas are raped every year. Exactly what I was commenting since last 3 days on dress code for women. The problem is the psychology of Indian male to lust, grab, harass, molest and r@pe women! Even if girls are packed into a sack, they will still be at a risk of getting harassed. It is due to insufficient judiciary and non-justice that men get bolder in their acts!
Agree (44)Disagree (4)Recommend (26)
To people who advocate the dress code for girls, I have few questions… 1) Why do babies and little kids get r@ped in our country? Do they wear revealing clothes? 2) The statistics for r@pe is highest in villages and towns. Do women there wear revealing clothes? 3) Everyday r@pes taking place in NCR region, especially of women returning from offices & also the incident in Guwahati few days ago… Were they wearing revealing clothes? If you think the answer to all these questions is NO, then please have shame and stop supporting the cause of dress code for anyone! You daily see tons of r@pes happening there, how many culprits have you seen going to jail? Why there is no strict punishment? Just give 10 years once to a r@pe culprit or 5 years for molestation/harassment, and it will set a strong precedent against crimes.
Agree (86)Disagree (6)Recommend (42)
Even the Chinese have a far superior mentality than we Indians. Most of their girls wear far smaller dress than even the westerns but still there is no single cases of molestation and harassment! Where are those ministers and member of NCW who were shouting for dress code for women just 2 days back? Now the whole world will come to know about the r@pist mentality. Already the world is laughing on our gov and now on our society as well!

Of course, that is also for dowry. I am sorry to say that infringing upon the modesty of a girl either through deceit of love or force directly is considered as an achievement by Indian males. This is Indian culture. Dirty Indian males are the filth of the world. Good for nothings and deserve to be exterminated. I hope more Indian males are racially attacked abroad.

I am truly sick and ashamed of being an Indian today. I have just no words for the revulsion I feel about what kind of young men we breed.. WHO selected them??

I have lived in China several years and it is safe for women and have never seen the level of eve teasing or derogatory remarks against women and also they are quite respectful with the Indians living there. Our youth thinks it is an ace up their sleeve if they show such behaviour.

True Vishal, very true. I travel to China very often and have never seen anything like we see in our own country. Even in HK we see Indians who work as some hotel brokers misbehaving and using cheap lanuguage which only an indian can understand. Its a real shame.
