原文标题：Enough space to accommodate China, India: Beijing
BEIJING: There is enough room to accommodate the aspirations of China and India, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the comment in response to India's commemorative activities and media reports to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1962 Sino-India border conflict.
"We have noticed relevant reports and commentaries," Xinhua quoted Hong as saying.
As the most populous developing countries and emerging economies, China and India face important opportunities for development, he said.
"China and India are partners, rather than rivals. We have far more common ground than disagreements, more mutual interests than conflicts," he said.
As leaders of both countries have pointed out, the world has enough space to accommodate China and India for common development and there are enough areas for the two to cooperate, Hong said.
"China is willing to work with India to look forward, enhance trust, communication and cooperation to deepen China-India strategic partnership and benefit the two countries and its people," Hong said.
India paid homage to soldiers who lost their lives in the 1962 war over the weekend. Defence minister AK Antony said there would not be a repeat of the conflict which led to India's military rout
Hope they mean it. We'll have to wait and see.

I feel sure that this is a positive and meaningful gesture from Peking. If it has official backing, India should not lag behind in reciprocating with a goodwill gesuture from India`side too (even if, perhaps, a cautious one in line with our bitter past experienjce/s) !

Unfortunately China can never get out of its association with Pakistan which it so sustained as a policy of containing INDIA. Not only that it tried to encircle INDIA with enemies. As a result INDIA's friends Nepal and SriLanka are now ex-friends. Not only that China also provided weapons of mass distruction like Nukes thro' North Korea to Pakistan. Even today it is engaged in construction activities in PoK even though it knows that it is disputed and belongs to INDIA. China cannot acknowledge, can never accept INDIA as a friend 'cause the mis-trust is deep rooted. HINDI - CHINI Bhai Bhai was in the past...now it is only Hindi - Chini, bye bye.... Faced with treat from all around itself over disputed islands with Japan, South Korea etc etc and sensing that USA is showing keener interest in INDIA, the chinese are only shedding crocodile tears now. For years it has armed the maoists, rebels in the north east, so that INDIA is always engaged and the development suffers.Gist of the story...Never trust a crocodile for its tears.

China is today the biggest defence partner of Pakistan.China - India friendship can therefore only be a pipe dream for our idiotic politicians.Remember what happened the last time we had 'hindi-chini bhai-bhai'!!!

Hey, Kick out Dalai Lama and his gang of thugs from India and everything will be fine. There will be very cosy relations between India and China and peacefulness in the Northeast.

Why can't we have neighbors like Canada, or Sweden, or Brazil? With borders that are quiet and respected, intentions that are open, friendly, and especially trustworthy?

How many Tibetans were there in Tibet at that time ? You sure some Tibetans didn't die from DL and gang's tortures ? Some of my relatives lost their legs, arms, tongues and eyes to DL and his landlords and rich monks.
Help free Tibet, a nation that has nothing in common with China, Tibet has a distict culture, language, and religion, China is hegomonic in nature, the World including India must help in freeing Tibet.

Dear Friend, We understand your pain. But you should by now also understand that, India can do help you to some extent. We already gave all the tibetians refuge, but if you want us to attack China to free Tibet, it is not practical.

Finally some one woke up after 50 yrs in our goverment to commemorate who lost thier lives for the stupidity and selfishness of our so called leaders and I call them thugs. We should never trust these chinese, these are the same people who shouted hindi cheeny bhai-bhai and then shot at our Jawans. Now they are saying "China and India are partners, rather than rivals." I would say first give back the teritory you have taken and then we will consider talking about parnership.

It seems the Indians have a lot of misunderstandings about the Chinese. I have worked in China for many years and have stayed long in several provinces and cities. I have noticed that the average Chinese is neutral about India, but an educated Chinese has a lot of respect for India. And they genuinely acknowledge that Mao blundered in invading India in 1962. In fact, I have not come across any Chinese who has hatred for India. But in Hongkong I met several Pakistanis, who had jealousy and hatred against Indians.

Absolute nonsense, China will never permit India any breathing space. These comments are meant to put India into a dream state and make us feel like China is not a threat to India. Chinks will stab you whenever they get a chance.
