原文标题：Global firepower: China’s military might is LIMITLESS
With China’s military might now at 2.3 million (approximately 23 lakh) active personnel, it has reached the status of the largest army in the world, according to Business Insider.
This is despite the fact that China has not been involved in any serious battles since the early 1980s when it faced off in a brief skirmish with Vietnam.
America has far more ships and warplanes worldwide, but in just under 20 years, China has created the largest force of submarines and amphibious warfare ships in Asia.
United States: 30 lakh personnel
India: 13 lakh personnel
According to Business Insider, China says it spent $98.8 billion (Rs 4.80 lakh crore) on its military in 2009, although analysts estimate spending may be more than three times that amount.
United States: $663 billion (Rs 32,22,180 crore)
India: $36 billion ( Rs 1,74,960 crore)
China’s Air Force: 470,000 personnel, 2,556 jet fighters, 400 ground attack jets.
United States: 329,638 active personnel, 2,132 fighters
India: 170,000 active personnel, 1,440 aircraft (approximate figures)
China’s Naval Force: 250,000 personnel, 66 submarines, 27 destroyers, 52 frigates.
Aircraft carriers: 11 Dock landing ships: 12 Cruisers: 22 Destroyers: 60 Frigates: 27 Submarines: 75
Total Navy Ships: 175 Aircraft Carriers: 1 Destroyers: 8 Submarines: 15 Frigates: 12
China’s Strategic Missile Force: 100,000 personnel, 140 nuclear missiles, 1,000 conventional theater missiles.
United States: 5,200 (approximate figures)
India: 80-100 (approximate figures)
China’s ground force: 1.9 million (19 lakh) personnel, 14,000 tanks, 14,500 artillery units, 453 helicopters.
United States: Tanks: 9,573 Helicopters: 6,417
India: Tanks: 5,000 Helicopters: 848
Little is known about China’s cyber-warfare programmes that may give it an edge.
China recently announced the existence of the Blue Army, a government-sponsored cyber warfare unit similar to those launched by the US, the United Kingdom, Australia and Israel.
The unit, which was officially formed two years ago but has existed in some form for a decade, claims to exist for defensive reasons only.
Indian Army & Weapons should be increased

Comparing India with China and US, India has invested very less amount in Army, Navy & Defence. Since India is no more a small country and it has lot of valuables we concentrate only on the Indian Politics so the other end our enemies are becoming strong. When we are going to be unite and do not fight each other, accept the good one’s like Lok Pal Bil we get lot of money to the Indian government and it can be utilized in a good manner and can be implemented in many good deeds.
I would strongly recommend the Indian Army to get good latest weapons and get trained well.

But china’s proxy in South Asia needs to be eliminated.
We NATIONAL DEMOCRATS will need atleast 8 years to bring INDIA upto speed in terms of the number of tanks, Fighter, Bombers, Nuclear Missiles, Warships and Aircraft Carriers. The Democratic setup which exists in INDIA right now is a shambles. What India needs is a bold and committed leadership and everybody on the same plank.
We need unprecedented Unity of Purpose and Will do make ourselves strong. Only the NATIONAL DEMOCRATS can secure the future of INDIA in Asia as well as the subcontinent. Only we know how to marshal the WILL of the INDIA people towards a gigantic effort towards technical brilliance and universal happiness.
Only we state clearly that India needs to be an APEX power in South Asia and should be the one calling the shots. Other nations who are our neighbours should be utterly fearful of what we can do if they cross the line. The Marxist is the worst enemy of the INDIAN people. He is hollowing the nation from inside out and he has infected most of the institutions of the nations which matter. He is unfailing in his efforts to prepare the Indian people to loose on a colossal scale and do the bidding of his masters -> the chinese.

What has India been thinking? Why havent We looked at expanding our forces and our weapons? We have huge advantages in comparison with china! We are a democracy and we have a huge talent pool of scientists, engineers etc., we have global companies with desire of making more money.
Look at how our tradionally conservative giants like Tata, Reliance etc qucikly joined the IT bandwagon when they smelled big money in it! Why cant we create a market for them in weapons industry?
An average defence contract is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The big ones like 126 aircraft deal is worth tens of billions. That smells like a lot of money.
We already have the talent pool and the financiers, all we have to do is to create a market where these two combine and we’ll get our Industrial-millitary complex of the 21st century! We live in a world where weak are not respected. And to be strong We need our own weapons which are one of the best in the world.

The military might of Chine should be regarded as a threatening signal to India. Lets not forget the relationship of China with Pakisthan. There are evidences of China claiming certain territories which originally belonged to India. If India doesnot handle China in a smarter way, China will not only become headache to India, but to the entire world.

The war technique in modern days is of having most sofisticated weapons including ground air and navy and not just number of soldiers. But you need defence only if you are rich as poor do not need any defence, his priorities are essentials, food, water, clothings, residence and medicine.
Apart from this he need not to be scared of parting with any thing and his mind and body should be free from fear. You cannot retain everthing for ever as you cannot retain you life for ever.So instead of fearing from China, US or any nation keep your mind and heart free from fear and involve yourself in all productive activites usful to yourself and mankind.

From an article on 1962 post-war analysis:
The roots of politicisation of the army are to be found in Nehru’s hatred for the man in uniform. Soon after Independence the first commander-in-chief of the Indian armed forces, General Sir Robert Lockhart, presented a paper outlining a plan for the growth of the Indian Army to Prime Minister Nehru.
Nehru’s reply: “We don’t need a defence plan. Our policy is non-violence. We foresee no military threats. You can scrap the army. The police are good enough to meet our security needs.”
He didn’t waste much time. On September 16, 1947, he directed that the army’s then strength of 280,000 be brought down to 150,000. Even in fiscal 1950-51, when the Chinese threat had begun to loom large on the horizon, 50,000 army personnel were sent home as per his original plan to disband the armed forces.

China is just competing with US in arms race. They are purely businessmen and they want to sell their arm just like USA is doing. Simultaniously China is creating jobs for their citizens. They will get disciplined manpower who will be a asset to the organisation they join in future.
India should also likewise recruit as many in the armed forces. In fact most of the indians shun the services in the armed forces. Indians are not even aware many of the armed forces personel have given their lives on the borders. At the most we are interested in cricket and fast money, the services for the nation be damned b. In fact having an ex servicemen is a advantage for corporation. I am also an ex servicemen. I was in the IAF. Jai Hind

how do we expect excellent infrastructure along the borders when even in the main cities it is shameful. same cant be same bout china, they have build a modern day nation, and now making the outlines stronger, that is the border. just bcoz they are strong or getting stronger doesnot mean, they will attack us orsupport our enemies. they are smart. they are growing on economics and so should we.

China & India – Might versus Intelligence
by Kali Mirch (View MyPage) on Nov 04, 2011 06:10 PM | Hide replies
The Story of Might (Offender) versus Intelligence (Defender).
On a huge tree in a forest, lived a pair of crows. A black cobra lived in the hollow of the same tree. Whenever the crows had young birds, he would eat them up.
One day, the female crow who was about to get babies, said to her husband, “My dear, please let us go away from here. I’m certain the black cobra will eat my children again.”
“Don’t be afraid!” said her husband. “I’m not going to put up with him any more.”
“But how can you fight him? He is so strong!” she said.
“I am intelligent,” replied the male crow, “so I am stronger.”
“Well, can I do anything to help?” asked the female crow.
“Yes, you can,” said her husband. “Listen to me carefully. Every day the king comes to bathe in the lake nearby. He removes his gold necklace and leaves it at the edge of the lake, while he bathes. You must pick up the necklace and drop it in front of the hollow of our tree, where the black cobra lives. When the servants of the king follow you to recover it, they will certainly see the black cobra and kill him.”
And so the female crow did exactly as her mate had suggested. The king’s servants chased the female crow who cleverly dropped the necklace in front of the hollow of the tree.
When the servants arrived at the spot, they saw the black cobra and killed him.

by Indian Sadhu (View MyPage) on Nov 04, 2011 12:12 PM | Hide replies
The article does not make sense in today’s world. A war is won on technology and not numbers. A single aircraft with better missiles can shoot down 6 – 10 enemy aircraft with its missiles and return to base.
What needs to be compared is the technology that these armed forces possess. Between US, China and India, the US undoubtedly is miles ahead of the other two. But, between India and China, it is a close fight with India ahead in some areas and China ahead in some others.
Bottomline – numbers don’t matter

Do you know that china has the capability to shoot down all US Satellites within 2 hours? It will leave US blind and confused. Their technology will be of no use and numbers will prevail. Chinese have demonstrated this by shooting down one of their own Satellites about a year ago.
