原文标题：China 'makes first test flight' of new stealth fighter jet
The next generation of Chinese war planes will be in service for the next thirty years during which time china will build their own large aircraft carriers ( rather than re-fit old soviet ones) so you would expect there to be a naval variant of the J 31.
China will play to her strengths. She will use espionage, blackmail and bribery in order to get the technology required.
At least the Chinese have been spared all those silly R&D costs. Why design and invent when you can simply 'use' other country's designs.
The poor old Chinese are several generations behind. Before their pilots can even get into their 'new stealth fighters' the US will have assassinated them in their beds with drone insects.
Don't know why everyone's so scared of China's military. It's a myth.
For example, how many aircraft carriers do they have? The answer is one - a refitted Ukrainian hulk, of all things.
China's army is large, but it needs to be to manage it's domestic security - a lot of people in China, you know.
When will they be getting decent cameras?
We should all start learning to be polite to the Chinese.
nah, their popluation is in decline and who the hell would want to move to China.
Obama says the USA will retain supremacy in the Pacific. The Chinese won't let him get away with such rhetoric. The Japanese must be feeling very insecure right now.
And today David Cameron said he was happy about the Chinese taking a stake in owner of Glasgow, Aberdeen and Heathrow airports. The man is a treacherous idiot.
This smacks of the cold war over again.
The new J-31, brought to you by technologies stolen from from more advanced countries. Much like the rest of the Chinese economy.
I expect the Israelis helped out, like they did when giving US technology to the Chinese via the Lavi aircraft.
And the US is good at shooting itself in the foot: the core - the high technology bit - of many of the US civil engines sold to the Chinese, is basically the same as their military engines...
Funny, the Chinese were saying exactly the same thing about you foreign devils from before the birth of Christ right up until the 18th Century.
Hahahaha! You lost the race pal - and the only way you can keep up now is by stealing our ideas. If you had any technological advantage at any time you failed to make use of it. Now you are just a bunch of bitter losers. Almost everything Chinese that I have bought is broken. It's rubbish junk.
Obviously a blatant Raptor/F-35 rip off.
Now we can see why the Pentagon is so worried about the invasion of Huawei and ZTE into telecommunications. 'Big Players' like Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson etc have lost their markets and we have probably lost our military secrets.
The Chinese can't tackle the USA head on for a decade. But they can intimidate the Japanese in the meantime and by 2040 the US will be inferior to the Chinese militarily.
Our poor kids, eh?
"by 2040 the US will be inferior to the Chinese militarily. "
LOL! In whose fantasy world?
Nightmare, not fantasy.
Have a good look at Chinese 'telecommunications' giants and you'll see they are ahead of most European and US manufacturers.
But you're probably correct. Could be nearer 2030.
The Chinese can't just keep copying Soviet designs and hope they work in the modern world. :)
Not sure they've understood 'stealth' - I can CLEARLY see it in the picture.
Back to the drawing board.....
Its already obsolete. Unmanned aircraft are the future. Which is mostly why the F-22 program was cancelled.
That's not why it was cancelled. The F-22 is purely for a p***ing contest with Russia. It can't even achieve multi-role status meaning it's of limited use given how expensive it is.
It has better air to air than the F-35 and better Stealth, but that's likely it.
How much of the technology was stolen by Chi-comm spies?
Good to see that our aid to China has been well spent!
Just a rip off of the F-22 and F-35. As usual, the Chinese are good at copying things, but absolutely not capable of innovation.
I'd like that to be true, but people said exactly the same things about the Japanese and besides if you look at just about any scientific research from around the world it invariably has a Chinese name on it.You're kidding yourself if you think the Chinese can't be innovative.Their disregard of copyright doesn't help start up tech but that can change.
Your statement is reminiscent of what they used to say during the war about how the Japanese couldn't make good fliers as they didn't have a sense of balance from being carried around on their mother's backs.
The Chinese had aircraft carrier sized ships navigating the Indian ocean when we where still paddling hollowed out logs. They are good at invention but not at application.
that's what people said of the japs in the 60s.
sour grapes for what? stating the facts? There is a difference between China and Japan. Japan brought in quality engineering gurus in the 50's in an effort to produce high quality manufacturing. China has no such desire. It's system values quantity over quality.
And those engines are a rip from the Mig-29.
If Pakistan can afford to buy fighter aircraft from China why are we providing them with aid - In my veiw the aid program should be stopped altogether
To bribe Zadari into allowing us to replenish our garrisons in Afganistan via land through Pakistan.
And to try to make the next generation of Pakistanis more positive about the west than the current generation.
Both of these objectives are a pointless waste of time and money.
Because EU is forcing us ...
"The layout is similar, but the material and quality are inferior."
Doesn't that just sum up everything that comes out of China these days? But the fools are us for buying it.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step? Lao -tzu 604BC - 531BC! They have all the time in the world. How much longer before all of us in the west use nothing but chopsticks and feed on two bowls of rice a day?
