外文标题：China’s first aircraft carrier completes South China Sea drills
BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s first aircraft carrier has successfully finished a series of tests during a training mission in the disputed South China Sea and has returned to port, state media reported.
Last month’s drills off the coast of Hainan Island marked not only the first time China has sent a carrier into the South China Sea but the first time it has maneuvered with the kind of strike group of escort ships U.S. carriers deploy, according to regional military officers and analysts.
After two decades of double-digit increases in the military budget, China’s admirals plan to develop a full blue-water navy capable of defending growing economic interests as well as disputed territory in the South and East China Seas.
The aircraft carrier Liaoning carried out more than 100 tests, including of its combat systems, and has now docked at port in the northern city of Qingdao, the official Xinhua news agency said late on Wednesday.
This is Chinas first aircraft carrier. The US has been building them since the 1930s. Japan knows how to build an aircraft carrier because they built them back in the 1930s as well. Really what is the big deal?
Money rules in these days.Somehow Obama might sell your soul for bucks.
Oops, forgot to tell you that the Japs always stole our technological stuff, back from the old days
this is not chinese first aircraft carrier, they bought it from the russian.
This is more of a symbolism than a major immediate threat.
China’s Navy is basically still a Coastal Naval Power (rather than a Blue Water Naval Power).
China is only testing the waters for future bigger Blue Water Navy.
Also, according to studies, on a major war situation on the Blue Water of the China Sea, based on its Technology and Armaments, the survival rate for this Aircraft Carrier will be less than 3 hours.
Maybe some Muslims will suicide bomb it with a rubber raft and some explosives. Send her to the bottom. Hopefully that would #$%$ off the Chinese enough to get involved in eliminating the Muslim menace to the world.
It is my understanding, the Chinese do not have any planes that can take off or land on a carrier. It that is indeed fact, all they have is an island.
The only barrier to China’s becoming a superpower is its millions of corrupt bureaucrats.
When you have billions of people to waste at war, what’s a little provocation?
Numbers matter little to nuclear weapons, this is a display, not a real threat.
It will take many more months & tests before the Chinese can fine tuned how to fully operate it to the best of their ability.
Meanwhile bear in mind at best these aircraft carriers are only useful to be deployed against smaller & weaker nations that don’t have the anti-carrier missiles. Sooner or later these big open flattops will be big sitting ducks for a barrage of missiles approaching fast from all directions.
Conclusion: A very expensive item which is soon to be only good for projecting one’s military prowess.
please find a better carrier group than Liaoning, besides the United States.
Only you rednecks are trying to find China as an enemy.
What, the ship hasn’t fallen apart yet?! Millions of toys used as Christmas presents are already filling up trash bins all over America.
Made in Russia bought by china and all ready obsolete!
The Americans should mind their own business. The Chinese military has only one aircraft carrier for training. There is no threat to US at all.
It would be a shame for China if the U.S. sank their only aircraft carrier the first hour of a war.
It wouldn’t last an hour.
Japan had similar carriers in the 1930s!
Remember: The boat was made in China.
China is gearing up for a war. America is going to be the ones that its against.
Has anyone independently confirmed that this thing even exists? This is coming from their state media. It probably sank already and they won’t report it.
Have the Chinese actually landed a plane on the carrier? Don’t think so.
It’s NOT a carrier until it launches and recovers an aircraft. Til then, it’s just another large target
Never under estimate your enemy.
