外文标题：China woman electrocuted using iPhone?
BEIJING: A 23-year-old Chinese woman has died after being electrocuted while using iPhone, her family alleged.
The incident happened in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has gone viral online, prompting Apple Inc, makers of iPhone, to launch a "thorough probe" .
The older sister of victim Ma Ailun said on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, that Ma was electrocuted while trying to answer a call on her iPhone when the device was charging. "( I) hope that Apple can give us an explanation . I also hope that all of you will refrain from using your mobile while charging," state-run China Daily quoted her as saying in Weibo post.

one in a Billion should not be a case of concern i'm sure there are many products that are made in the country that are much more dangerous but that won't hit the news stands

yo, dont be so sure man.
This is not the first time a person has got electrocuted answering a charging phone. We must all try to avoid doing that even acccidentally.
HUFFPOST SUPER USER
We did not think that you could use a cell phone while it was changing?
Can't happen. Not enough voltage
It's China. It's probably a knock off iPhone plugged into a simulated charger in a faux wall outlet in a fake arpartment.
never had any problem with my iPhone, i charged my iPhone all the time in my office and thank god i'm fine..probably the wiring and electricity problem in china..oh well
The iPhone 5 uses a 3.8 VDC battery, with a current capacity of 1.4 Amps. An iPhone charger is capable of about 1 Amp output. A normal system would not kill anyone. But this was China. Almost everything is "jerry-rigged".
utterly impossible for a woman to get electrocuted by a DC battery, Seriously. Utterly Impossible!
the iPhone was plugged in via an outlet at the time, still though i don't see how a usb can deliver that much of a current unless it was defective.
There is so much piracy in China, my bet is it was a fake iPhone. China had entirely fake Apple STORES! No one ANYWHERE else has died.
she probably answered it while in the bath tub
hope that call was really really important. maybe it was God calling her home.
seriously tho, this is tragic and my condolences go out to her family and friends.
and since it was China, i have to wonder if the phone hadn't been altered or tampered with.
This is all about the power surges in Chinese electric grid, Not an Apple problem. And I dislike Apple.
So, the iPhone 5 electrocutes this poor woman and the Samsung Galaxy keeps going up in flames! - What is going on?
If she was using a bootleg charger or if there was a circuit failure that passed electricity directly from the wall into her maybe.
I smell Samsung involvement here
I have noticed if I am charging my iPhone while using it the phone gets super hot. Wasn't there a story last week about an iPhone that caught a backpack on fire?
The only way this could remotely be possible is if the woman were drenched with water, and enough of it ran down her arm to link with the voltage in the wall socket. In that case, the phone had nothing to do with it.
She had gotten out of shower to answer the phone so it might have something to do with it.
I'm curious if it was a real Apple product or a knock-off.
As far as I know the real ones and the knock-offs are all made in the same Chinese factory.
It's a little known fact that it's dangerous to talk on a phone that is charging. I don't know why the phone companies don't stress this more.
Just another reason to not buy Apple products!
People get electrocuted by toasters also, nothing can be made 100% safe.
it's a plot. the Chinese workers are planting bombs in the iphones. and at a pre-arranged time will detonate all the phones killing off a large percentage of the population. imo.
