BEIJING: The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has launched a deep ultraviolet (DUV) solid-state laser device, making the country first-ever in the world to possess such technology.

CAS President Bai Chunli said that the successful testing of the device suggests the academy’s dedication to major innovation and breakthrough in seeking development.

中国社科院研制出深紫外固态激光装备,从而使中国成为世界上首个拥有此项技术的国家。

社科院院长白春礼称,这一装备的成功测试表明社科院专注于重大创新并取得了突破性进展。

The use of potassium beryllium fluoroborate (KBBF) once stalled the project and Chen Chuangtian, a CAS member along with Xu Zuyuan, a member of the Chinese academy of engineering turned to the Hong Kong University of science and technology for help.

Xu said that they were allowed to use their labs because Chinese mainland research institutes did not have similar ones at that time, adding that they eventually, after many strenuous efforts, invented a KBBF prism coupling device.

氟硼酸钾(KBBF)的使用曾经令这一项目止步不前,中国社科院院士陈闯天和中国工程院院士徐祖元一道前往香港科技大学寻求帮助。

This is an important milestone. Such lasers can be tapped for military use. 1) Research is on to use their tremendous energy to induce nuclear fusion (like in Hydrogen bomb). Fusion would then be possible at near room temperature which can make the technology portable and very dangerous. 2) It can be used to find, track and destroy missiles in flight. Protoypes of such lasers from other materials are already in use in U.S. China acquiring this technology should be a source of worry for India.

  2. 埃塞俄比亚和乌干达的发展效率好像跟南印度差不多,要不是因为地形的限制(都是内陆国,而且埃塞俄比亚高原山峦起伏,海拔落差极大,交通交通非常不便利),估计这两个国家都能把印度甩在后面远远的。

    当然,以上是一些中国人的看法。我不承认 :mrgreen:

  3. 激光技术、电磁技术、可控核聚技术、人工智能……,人类越走越远了,这些不应该是科幻片里面的东西吗?迷茫了……

  4. 什么叫固态激光器,对这个概念不是很了解,我从事汽车车身激光焊接的工作,接触过激光焊接,激光越紫波长越短,当然能量也越强。但能量要强到摧毁数百公里外的卫星个人感觉有点难。貌似中国军方也从没说过激光可以用于摧毁性军事武器用途。

    • 不要老想着军用,民用也可以的。
      以我有限的知识瞎猜,深紫外激光可能用于国产光刻机的光源,提高国产光刻机的分辨率。

      • 我也以有限的知识瞎猜一下,估计可能作重要的用途是3D激光打印设备,未来3D打印将取代传统的流水线制造加工业,比方说你想买辆汽车,不必买和别人同一个模子里做出来的一模一样的外壳,可以再4S店内通过3D数模预定你的个个性化汽车,然后通过3D打印出车身等,最后为你制作一个独一无二的汽车。要走到这一步还需要很漫长的时间。

  5. 貌似中国的一种坦克是世界第一次降激光用于军事实践上,于用于摧毁对方坦克的光学仪器。

  6. 翻译有点小问题,Chinese Academy of Sciences是中科院, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences才是社科院。

  7. The Chinese Academy of Sciences 是中国科学院,不是中国社科院(The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences)。中国科学院主业是自然科学,激光就是属于自然科学中的物理学。

  9. 是啊,至少可以生产低于45nm的cpu了!不知道thz波发生器这个是不是大材小用呢?起码以后cpu硬盘内存价格更亲民,估计还可以用于微观光学成像和频谱分析。
