A complete, undiluted focus on nothing but economic growth. Rapid, blistering hard economic growth.

India is passing through that unique phase where we have an overflowing youth population that’s bereft of adequate economic opportunities (jobs and entrepreneurship) due to a mix of complex reasons, leading to a real risk that we are on the verge of frittering away our youth dividend.

While in 1980, we were almost at par with in terms of size of the two economies, their centrally-controlled model has helped them become 5 times ours. Now is the time - when we need to simply get our act together.

How will that be?

1. Stop focussing on everything else - caste, creed, religion, region, history - and just focus on how we can multiply our productivity (we have the exact reverse of this situation as on date)
2. Ease the regulations - Factor market liberalisation has been delayed far too long. Time to open up in a big way and allow economic opportunities to flourish (Factor markets - Land, Labour, Capital, Ideas)
3. Sympathy for the downtrodden and troubled - Face it. Our farmers, adivasis and dalits are in a generally bad shape. Be very polite and sympathetic to their cause. Listen to them, don’t mock them. Make them genuine partners in progress.
4. Get honesty & talent back in vogue - Enough of scams and leaks, and hollow promises. Get the act together and produce results. Get top professionals in the top chairs of power - ignore their backgrounds, just get the best to run the nation. It’s not happening otherwise.
5. Communicate vigorously - Whosoever is in power, must communicate through numbers and figures the importance of growing our economic heft rapidly. Without it, we can neither fund our defence (we are doing badly there) nor can we help uplift all sections of society (inequality rising desperately).

This is the general philosophical direction. The micro-aspects of how to ensure all this operationally, is quite another answer altogether!

TLDR : Get the economic act together. Otherwise be condemned to decades of middling to low growth rates, remaining a distant third to the top two of the world (, and the US). It is time to create history, rather than losing ourselves in it (as is the wont now).

1. Unbiased journalists and journalism.
2. News channels that provide useful information/news about events that are happening around the world, not with useless information like diaper color of an actor's baby or whether an actor who is proven guilty in a crime comitted (in simple word, a criminal) will sleep on floor or on bed during the punishment tenure in jail.
3. Educated politicians.
4. Defining maxmum age limit to contest any elections.
5. Effective and full fledged implementation of NOTA option in elections.
6. Reduction in the tenure of a government from 5 years to 4 or 3 years.
7. Effective judiciary system.
8. Refurbished education system.
9. An environment where IAS, IPS, judges of courts, lawyers, police officers etc can perform their duties without having iota of fear of risk to their or their family's life.
10. Stringent rules, tests and examination of a candidate before issuing the license to drive on roads.
11. Equal encouragement and support to to other sports which have potential to fetch medals at international events.
12. Quality movies in theaters and good daily soaps on television.

Apart from these India need quality and affordable health care facilities, pothole free roads, improved public transportation, proper drainage system, proper waste management system, quality air to breathe, quality water and food etc.

Most importantly i feel, we Indians need alternatives/choices for a leader to lead the country.

11. 影院播放高质量的电影，电视播放好看的肥皂剧。

除此之外，印度还需要高质量和价格合理的医疗设施、无坑洞的道路、改良的公共交通、正常的排水系统和废物管理系统、新鲜的空气、优质的饮用水和食物等。

我觉得最重要的是，我们印度人需要一个领导人来引领这个国家的选择。

I'll tell you what India needs at this time:

1. Being an optimist and looking at the 1-year report card of the NaMo government, I can surely tell that we've chosen the right government. So, our 1 duty is over.
2. India needs to get rid of corruption. Not only corrupt officials are to be suspended/ removed, but also strict action needs to be initiated against people who offer bribes.
3. The job creation process has already started. Countries are investing heavily on us. They only need talented and hard-working people for them. So, what we need to do is children to study and work hard.
4. India needs more security. Security in terms that we require more eyes looking our country. More the number of CCTVs more they act as deterrent to crimes. Yes, the cost and maintenance is an issue, but it's important that we've them.
5. India needs more entrepreneurs: People need to shed their easy-going attitude and try risking their jobs for being an entrepreneur.
6. We need more youth representation in the Parliament. Most of our leaders are above 60.
7. We need to have patience and not blindly believe whatever the media tells us. Mr. Modi going on so many tours is not a waste. His work will get emphasis after 3-4 years. We got to have some patience.
8. India needs to get rid of poverty and illiteracy. I know its hard, but we've to.
9. Indians should think India as their home too, not only their own houses. This will give them a sense of responsibility and hopefully they'll stop littering.

Responsible citizens, who would:

1. Know our rights and abide by the laws.
2. Keep our surroundings clean.
3. Obey traffic rules.
4. Respect every individual unbiased by gender, caste, creed and community.
5. Empathize with person of any stature.
6. Learn to earn knowledge and respect, rather than only money.
7. Keep aside our angers.
8. Not discriminate based on cast and communalism.
9. Understand and work on environmental issues. l and work towards a social cause.
10. Try to reduce carbon footprints as much as possible.
11. Respect the constitution of India.
12. Not bias our opinion based on the current journalist community of our country.
13. Use their voting rights wisely.
14. Not indulge in any sort of corruption.
15. Love our daughters and not kill the unborn or just born daughters.
16. Forget the word "dowry"
17. Have a goal in life.
18. Promise not to treat rivers and seas as sewage dump yard.
19. Segregate our wastes.
20. Rise above religion.

Seems like impossible, isn't it?

But if we start following few of the above points in our daily lives, we would definitely be the next JAPAN (in terms of discipline) in few years from now.

It’s seven decades now that we are independent and by that I mean in command of our own destiny. Yes we have a fascinating story of how we made it here. Our story dates back to the birth of civilizations and we have been dramatis personea through out the history of mankind. And now we are again at the cusp of a renaissance in human history. Are we aware of where we stand?

Are our teachers aware that their students will be citizens of a global power and have fate of a billion plus humans in their hands?

Are our lawmakers aware that the policies they make will be studied by future historians as a case study?

Are we aware when we build our cities that they need to speak a language of the 21st century?

Are our engineers aware that simple technologies that make human life better will be more rewarding than lucrative offers at campus placements?

Are our designers aware that we cannot become a global hub of design if we do not innovate and merely follow?

Are we aware that the stage is ours for the taking if we have confidence to do so?

We are on a global stage now. Our actions will be monitored. Our detractors will be more forceful. Our idea of nation will be more fiercely contested. Our strength will be tested and our weakness exploited.

Are we aware that we are history in the making?
