Why is China's J20 Jet Fighter not a threat to India?
Utkarsh Suryavanshi, Project Manager
The Chengdu J-20 is a 5th generation modern combat aircraft which has been inducted by PLAAF of China, to look at challenges of air battles 20 years from now.
It is very much a lethal threat to the IAF; PLAAF today has over 600 4.5 generation combat aircraft including copies of Sukhoi series aircraft; a very stable and mature J-10 indigenous platform, which started after Tejas and finished much before that.
This is meanwhile IAF is losing aircraft at a rate of 10–12 jets a year.
Even if such things are true, they are never revealed in the public. It is most likely that the MoD has pressurised the IAF Chief to come out and speak such a thing as a morale booster or PR stunt, due to the go nment’s miserable failure in securing a single new combat aircraft in the IAF in the last 4 years. The F-22 also remains untested in a real war. Yes it has some very modern systems but everything that is said about it right now is under controlled conditions. Wars are never controlled conditions.
J-20’s biggest win is its ability to successfully clear all flight testing parameters and see mass induction in PLAAF while HAL and ADA of India cannot even get an aircraft inducted after 30 years of planning, designing and over 3,000 hours of testing.
Considering the track record India’s go nment aerospace companies have, we Indians should be the last one to make fun of J-20 through such childish questions

Largely because it is all smoke and mirrors.
1.Isn’t a truly 5th gen aircraft. Whilst it kind of looks the part It’s more of a test bed for a time when China has both the expertise and funds to develop and build such an aircraft in numbers. Look at the development costs for the F-35 (only true 5th gen aircraft) which is currently the most costly weapons system that the US has ever developed.
2.There aren’t enough of them. The Chinese like the Russians have made quite a song and dance about their pseudo stealth fighters which whilst not copies are at least inspired by the 20+ year old F-22. Unlike the F-22 however these planes will likely never be used in an operational environment where there is any liklehood of someone shooting back and highlighting their limitations.
3.China has actively avoided conflicts against technologically advanced nations. The last time it dipped its toe into an international conflict was Korea where the sheer weight of Chinese numbers combined with the Korean climate and terrain to grind out a stalemate. China whilst continuing to upgrage its military capability appears to have absolutely no interest in the kind of diplomacy at the end of a gun barrel that we in the west are accustomed to.
No one can be sure about it, if you read Chinese papers and their analyst reports, it is a threat to the world not only to India.
How Al-31 engines of Russian were replaced with Chinese engine (probably their first engine) and surpasses every other engine in the world did you read about the Take-off weight and fuel capacity of J20, years on aircraft making experience US and Russia were grabbed by the balls. Chinese out did them in a span of half a decade. If it ain’t miracle what is i am not sure :P
The AESA radar used of J20 is pretty much similar to what russians or indians standard issue for their aircraft.
Conclusion it is still not a threat and even if it turns out to be threat we have s400 triumf to detect them and blow them out of air and one unit of triumf holds 114 missles enough for 1 dozen of J20 produced till now.

This reverse engineered , copied from other superpower.
More over, Indians are user of various chinese goods , the quality and durability is known to every Indians. One wheel of chinese tak came out in the russian exercise.
The attainmement of supercruise necessiate the afterburner, the russian engine then losse its stelth and emits infra red ray, which is vulnerable to heat homing missiles.
J20 is not a threat to India because sukhoi 30 mki plane can track it with it's bar radars. Also j20 will take off from tibian airports which are in range of brahmos missiles stationed in arun-al Pradesh. So j20 will have to meet this two weapons before attacking Indian military installations.
Because India has the best curry that can kill any bacteria and can also kill any enemies with any weapons without doubt.

For a start, the J-20’s engines are based on the old WS-10 design. This engine isn’t very powerful, and gives out a massive heat signature when the afterburner is turned on.
We don’t know how good the J-20’s avionics are. But, based on past planes, I wouldn’t think that they are state of the art avionics. I could be wrong, though…
And finally, the J-20 is detectable by RADAR. The fact is, that the ‘stealth plane’ isn’t much of a stealth plane

It is because J20 is never intended to deploy on Tib, to guard against India, you cant mark them as threat if it wasnt for you, they have J10 J11 J16.
因为J20从来没有打算部署在西-藏来防范印度，如果目标不是你，你就不能把他们视为威胁，他们有J10 J11 J16。
You know where are some F35 deployed in East Asia right? probably J20 are deployed somewhere nearby there.
I am not doubting Indian pilots, they are brave and adequately trained, but logistic and maintenance do need vast improvement.

No arms and ammunition are a threat to India because the economic opportunities and market size of India is its own insurance.
What can be used is internal strife, NGOs and fake controversies to slow down India’s growth and keep it dependent for longer. Resolve internal differences and unite don’t let others and those within India repeat a East India Company mistake

Both India and China are nuclear powers who want to avoid war at that cost except for some occasional border clashes which are minor incursions..

Because J-20 could be “allegedly detected” by Indian radar system as claimed by media in India.
The fact that India media chose to ignore or was ignorant of the existence of the LUNEBERG LENS on J-20 amused me. LUNEBERG LENS is the very item that hides the true RCS data of stealth aircraft and makes the jet fighter visible to radar detection during daily exercise. I am not surprised military radar could pick up signals of J-20 during its exercise flight, but it is quite misleading to report as such.
J-20 is definitely not best in class fighter jet, but it is one of the only four stealth fighters in the world ( if we take Su-57 as legit stealth fighter) . China’s competence of designing and producing such aircraft already qualify herself as the top 3 industrial nations in the world.
Do not always bring up BRAMOS, I know it might be a bad ass missile as Indians believe it to be, but it is just boring to talk about it every time.
Let’s just live in a real world and talk about something else. You know people in China do not believe J-20 is designed to fight India…
James Young, studied at University of Missouri-Columbia
The plane itself is not the main threat. The main threat is the fact that China’s domestic aerospace industry is head, shoulders, and waist above the Indian aerospace industry.
While buying an airforce is an option, relying on other countries for maintenance is a recipe to be controlled by said countries.
This allows China to sell its planes abroad and form and strengthen alliances with potential buyers.
That is much more dangerous to India than any single design.

Bcz India has very advanced radar and can easily detect J20 within a few kilometers. The India air force is also far stronger than China Bcz India has more advanced fighters and more professional fighterpilots. India's air force training intensity is so high that India crashed more than 1000 planes in 30 years, second only to the United States. The US Air Force crashed an average of 4 to 5 planes a month , but the US air force is the most powerful in the world. The India’s record is about 2 planes second only to that of the United States, so India's air force will be more powerful as same as the US air force.
