Nine people charged with selling Samsung's curved display tech
The CEO and some employees of a supplier allegedly sold IP to a Chinese company.
Prosecutors in South Korea have indicted nine people and two companies for allegedly selling Samsung's curved-edge OLED display tech (which it uses in its flagship Galaxy phones) to a company in China. The CEO of Samsung supplier Toptec Co Ltd was among three people arrested over the scheme. Prosecutors say he and eight employees received about $13.8 million for the intellectual property.
韩国检方已对9人及两家公司提起诉讼，指控他们向中国一家公司出售三星OLED曲面屏技术(三星旗舰机Galaxy使用了该技术)。三人被捕，其中包括三星供应商Toptec Co . Ltd .的首席执行官。检方表示，该CEO及8名员工售卖知识产权获利约1380万美元。
The group allegedly formed a shell company that received documents related to display panels from Samsung subsidiary Samsung Display, and sold them and "3D lamination" technology to the unidentified Chinese company. Toptec sells automated equipment to make display panels for phones and the company has denied any wrongdoing, according to Reuters.

According to sources, us banks and offshoring companies has been instrumental in this business of Korean CEOs selling information to Chinese and US companies.
This is how Chinese companies are able to sell low cost phones or other products. They don't pay for R&D . They steal techs and mass produce it then sell it for a lower cost than the companies who actually invented said product.
the curved screen is the only negative thing about samsung phones. can't get a proper tempered glass protector because of it. i wish samsung would really just stop doing it
I think they should have the option to buy a non curved flagship, but i don't think they should remove the curved flagships, personaly i love the curved screen.
Samsung has plenty of phones with non curved screens.
but which is better, the samsung curved oled or the ps vita display? They might have sold the wrong one?
I think are you confusing Samsung and Sony. Samsung and Toptec are from Korea. Sony is from Japan.
Samsung stole tech..
Company that help Samsung in OLED tech.
Pioneer defeats Samsung in plasma panel patent spat
Pioneer has prevailed in its legal battle with Samsung over who owns key plasma display technologies....
I don't think anyone is saying Samsung had never stole tech before. The point of the article is report on another prosecution against selling IP.
Stolen IP ends up in China. Shock.
Definitely a shock. Usually the stolen IP gets stolen and registered with USPTO and “claimed” to be “US” inventions ;)
