On Tuesday, Thailand greenlit the first stage of the ambitious Southeast Asia sprawling railway project. This phase will see the construction of a 256km high-speed rail line between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima. The project is estimated to take four years and cost $5.2 billion. Thailand will be providing the money, while China provides the expertise.


However, even after its finished, the line will still be around 600km away from the Laos border. The second phase of the project, a rail line from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai on the border has not yet been approved.

The planned rail would run some 500 km (310 mi) between Mumbai and the western city of Ahmedabad, at a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph). China ordered a number of 250 km/h trains based on the E2-1000 series design, renamed it as CRH2, becoming the second Shinkansen train exported after the 700T for Taiwan. These CRH2 trains consist of a total of 60 sets; the first three sets (2001-2003) were built in Japan, the next six sets were delivered in complete knock down (CKD) form and assembled by CSR Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock, the remaining 51 sets were built by Sifang through technology transfer from Japan. The first train arrived at the port of Qingdao on 8 March 2006.

Qinhuangdao-Shenyang passenger railway or Qinshen railway is a passenger-dedicated high-speed railway between Qinhuangdao and Shenyang, spanning a distance of 404 km. Construction started on August 16, 1999. Opened on October 12, 2003, it is the first newly built high-speed railway in China, costing CN¥15.7 billion (US$1.9 billion). It is an electrified dual-track railway designed for a top speed of 200 km/h. By 2007 its top speed was increased to 250 km/h. In 2002, high-speed train China Star achieved a top speed of 321 km/h on Qinshen railway, setting a record for Chinese train speed. Currently, most of the passenger trains between Qinhuangdao to Shenyang are diverted to this railway from Shenshan railway.


Shinkansen variants and their operational speed is listed below:


800 series: In service since 2004 on Tsubame services, with a maximum speed of 260 km/h (160 mph).


N700-7000/8000 series In service since March 2011 on Mizuho and Sakura services with a maximum speed of 300 km/h (185 mph). Tohoku, Joetsu, and Hokuriku Shinkansen


E5 series 200 series: The first type introduced on the Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansen in 1982 and withdrawn in April 2013. Maximum speed was 240 km/h (150 mph). The final configuration was as 10-car sets. 12-car and 16-car sets also operated at earlier times.


E1 series: Bilevel 12-car trains introduced in 1994 and withdrawn in September 2012. Maximum speed was 240 km/h (150 mph).


E2 series: 8/10-car sets in service since 1997 with a maximum speed of 275 km/h (170 mph).


E4 series: Bilevel 8-car trains in service since 1997 with a maximum speed of 240 km/h (150 mph).


E5 series: 10-car sets in service since March 2011 with a maximum speed of 320 km/h (200 mph).

Main reason behind such huge amount for just 500 kms is our topographical conditions. Every km there are variations like lakes, mountains, rivers, valleys etc. which eventually increases the cost of bullet train in India. And Thailand have flat terrain which makes it easy for laying tracks there, costing less.


Now let’s talk about our beloved CM of Delhi Mr. Kejriwal. He retweets everything what is against our PM and his party. Kejriwal enjoys giving reviews on movies, he loves to go on protest, he loves to write letters to LG even if a mosquito bites him. He love calling PM coward and psychopath. Thailand approved a 5.5 billion US dollar high-speed railway project to link Bangkok with China and gave the order to China in July. Now, there is a comparison between the cost of this project and the bullet train project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai to be built by Japan.


the amount Thailand approved, 5.5 billion USD, was just for the first phase of the project spanning 370 km and not for the entire 3,000-km-stretch.

The $5.5bn funding is for a phase of 256 km route and not that of falsely claimed 3000 km.

On September 21, Thailand's transport minister said that the first phase of the first phase of the high-speed railway project will cost approximately 5.5 billion USD.


The first phase will focus on a 250 km (155 miles) track -- from Bangkok to the northeastern Thai province of Nakhon Ratchasima -- out of the 873 km (542 miles) rail line planned to link Thailand's border with Laos to the ports and industrial zones in Thailand's east, a Reuters report said.

Seoul’s you like to buy a chinese knock off phone that will last for 6 months or the real deal that will last much longer and will be safer? There are people out there braying to the skies everyday. Don’t listen to them.


Chances are , they would never take a train and would not care Howe unsafe the train is as long as it would be cheaper. These people are wasting their time tweeting the same thing again and again only because we actually listen to their rambling.
