This is the shocking moment a worker plummeted down a lift shaft after stepping into a faulty elevator during work in Shenzhen, southeast China.
His colleague was shocked and called emergency service immediately.
The 37-year-old man suffered serious brain injuries and had to rely on life support machines to breathe.
According to Southern Metropolis Daily, the delivery men, Mr Cai and Mr Liu, were trying to transport goods from the ground floor to the fifth floor in an industrial building in Lo Wu, Shenzhen, on November 7.
Surveillance camera footage shows Mr Cai waiting in the front of the lift doors and pushing it open.
Seconds after, he stepped in and fell into the bottom of the shaft.
It's reported that the lift was stopping at the fifth floor, rather than the ground floor.
Mr Liu, who was next to Mr Cai, held the door open and called emergency services.
Mr Liu explained to the reporter: 'The lift shaft is about five metres deep (16.4 feet) and he fell into it within two seconds.
