China bans tourism to North Korea
CHINA BANS NORTH KOREA TOURISM ONE DAY BEFORE TRUMP ARRIVES
One day before President Donald Trump arrives in China as part of his Asian tour, the country has banned tourism to North Korea, hitting one of the hermetic nation's few reliable revenue streams.
Tour companies operating in the Chinese city of Dandong, which borders North Korea, were told by the Dandong Tourism Bureau to halt trips to Pyongyang ahead of Trump's visit to China. They will only be allowed to offer one-day tours of Sinuiju, a smaller city right across the broder.

I heard on NPR that even though China has stopped exporting as much fuel and such to NK, they've drastically increased the amount of food they're sending in order to avoid a humanitarian crisis.

I'm really glad you commented this - it was my first concern when I read the headline, and there's nothing in the article about it, unfortunately.

So they should. Kim is the problem, not the citizens. Unfortunately most of that aid will be horded by Kim and his friends and never to the people that need it, or it'll be handed out by their Glorious Leader. Be thankful he is so charitable!

I have no problem with this. 25 million starving people would be a problem for China and SK probably couldn't handle it.

China must be really annoyed with Kim Jong Un at this point for them to do this.

They have hated NK for a long time. They only keep it popped up so something is in between them and the US and because they don't want a flood of refugees.

They also don't want a US ally like S. Korea to share a border with China. NK exists solely to be a buffer state between China and Korea. The only reason China cares is because of the nuclear program. NK could be a literal hellscape and China would support it as long as it provided a few hundred miles between China and invading armies.
But I think the Chinese have decided it would be better to have America on their doorstep than a rogue nuclear power.

Tourism generates about $44 million in revenue per year for North Korea and 80 percent of all foreign visitors are from China.
Well that's something, thanks for helping out China.

Yeah, of course, thats something. So, China trying to get friends with many other countries now? Maybe it's for good.

China would be better off being friends with everyone else anyway
