China sent three ships into Japanese waters that have long been the source of diplomatic tensions between the two nations, Tokyo has claimed.
The guard vessels were seen cruising off the coast of the Japanese-controlled Senkakus, which have also been claimed by China as the Diaoyus, at around 2pm (5am GMT) on Monday.
It comes days after the new US Defence Secretary James Mattis vowed to defend the island chain from any Chinese incursions, honouring the long-standing Tokyo-Washington treaty.

History lesson: The islands were known as Diaoyu and under the control of the Republic of China (ROC). These islands were taken as spoils of war by Japan and became known as Senkaku. After Japan was defeated, the islands were supposed to be returned to the ROC. However, because of the civil war in China with it becoming the People's Republic of China (PRC), the US instead handed the islands to Japan to administer. This was a disaster in the making like the Sykes-Picot Agreement. Perhaps this was a cynical play by the US to keep all the interested parties at each others' throats so that it can have a reason to intrude itself into NE Asia. Plus selling more weapons is always good business.

The headline says one thing and the article says another. These are islands over which ownership is disputed. The implication of the headline that they are Japanese is incorrect.

Offer the islands up for sale. I'm sure the hated Bliars will be there in an instant. The Chicoms wouldn't dare take on the wicked witch.
