China launches new cargo service linking Tibet with Nepal
BEIJING: China has launched a new cargo service linking Tibet and Nepal as dozens of trucks carrying goods worth $2.8 million left the Tibetan border port of Gyirong en route to Kathmandu.
The new rail and road cargo service launched on Friday, linking Guangdong, Tibet and Nepal, aims to boost trade with the South Asian neighbour as China pushes forward its Belt and Road (Silk Road) initiative, state-run ‘Xinhua’ news agency reported on Saturday.
A train carrying products, including shoes, clothes, hats, furniture, appliances, electronics and building materials, covered the 5,200-kilometer distance between Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, and Xigaze in Tibet.
The trucks are responsible for the remaining 870 kilometer of the journey, carrying goods to Gyirong and then to the final stop in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital.
China aim is to cover INDIA which is the largest competitors of his in the current scrnario. China hmjust want to strangle INDIA trade with its neighbours. Our neighbours also without thinking a bit just signing contracts with China.
India is the largest competitors of China? You must be kidding me! India should compare herself with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc.
India is a beggar country, thousand of people are sleeping on street along with pigs and dogs, what she can offer to Nepal and others, only blockage of boarder.
China and Pak conspired to block Indian land route to central Asia from POK and COK. Indian politicians were stupid enough to give back POK in 1972. we MUST find a way to connect to central Asia.
China is also pushing up the ante !!! Let the brain game begin much better than any evil war game
Well, Nepal can”t consume that much of Goods….. So certainly its a new route to dump Chinese products into our country through porus Indo-Nepal borders !
Unlike us, the Chinese do know how to complete projects in good time! I think their rail connection to kathmando will be operational long before we even complete the survey for our rail connection to the Nepalese capital.
