AGRA: Eight Indian Air Force fighter jets successfully landed on Agra-Lucknow expressway on its grand opening on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was present to see the landing of the IAF jets.
Other leaders present at the inauguration included Ram Gopal Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav, former UK governor Aziz Qureishi and Azam Khan.
A dream project of UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, the 302km expressway, has been completed in a record time of 22 months and has cost Rs 13,200 crore.
Last year in the month of May, in a first for military aviation in the country, IAF successfully landed a French Dassault Mirage-2000 fighter jet on the Yamuna Expressway near Raya village, Mathura, as a part of elaborate trials to see how many other highways can be used for war-like emergencies.

Good. This is another milestone
it's a great move towards resource utilization. We should identify this kind of expressways all over India and test landing and flying of jets. This will not only save the cost but will give flexibility also to our forces.
where there is a will there is a way. well done Akhilesh. young CM you should be role model for other CMs.
Congratulations to the IAF for having done this wonderful landing. Keep this up and eliminate our enemy so that India can live in peace.
but i really salute the pilot...UP ki roads pe bharosa krr liya
Kudos to IAF. Hope quality of the expressway is as good as runways.

Pakistan is doing this since 2000 on their motorways and here people just achieved after 16 years and chest thumping like they won the whole world.
A routine exercise for the air force, just in case of an emergency.
