India is ‘phenomenally proud’ of its athletes: PM Modi
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lavished praised on India’s Olympic contingent, and asked them to give their best during the remainder of the competition. The PM had said he didn’t want to wait till Independence Day to talk about India’s Olympic athletes, in response to cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar’s request that he do so.
“India is phenomenally proud of all our athletes in Rio and their hard work that got them there,” Modi tweeted. The PM added that the athlete’s “endurance, determination and dedication” had made their country proud.
Thanks to PM for supporting athletes.
I”m embarrassed theyre laughing at us on international forums ,our athletes are losers and the facilities here suck, when singapore and Hungary have gold medals but we can”t even get a medal,we shouldnt even send a team for the Tokyo olympics, might as well tax payer money on something useful
If our earlier governments over the last 60 years, had better planning & vision (like the Chinese), this wud not have been our plight at the Olympics!
Lets face it, we at almost 1.3 billion people, are nearly one-fifth of humanity, and are not likely to get more than 2 or 3 medals, if at all.
It sounds harsh, but we have become the laughing stock, amongst people from all other countries.
What were the earlier congress governments doing??
A leader encourages in every situation. Salute, you know the Art of Motivating !
thank you Modi ji for kind words to our athletes
Dr. Vilas Ravat
Thats great, we should support them
Indian sports need more encouragement
1.2 Billion population, third largest economy in the world, Free for over 65 years and not a single medal in 2016. And you falsely call yourself a superpower. WTF? what am i missing?
Indians should get GOLD for corruption, double standards, lack of hygiene and etiquette, Misers and Money hoarders.
In last Olympics, India won 5 or 6 medals and also finished 2nd in Commonwealth games. After RSS people took over as office bearers, the performance at Rio Games has dropped
If somehow few medals won, Mr. Modi will take credit like every other thing by telling that how many thousand crores Government spend on sports and what plans his Government executed !
Representing the country itself is a very big honour and achievement. Our athlets should be very proud. The Nation salutes them.Winning or loosing does not matter. After all everyone do not win except a few.
