The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not impose a blanket ban on Russia+ for next month's Rio Olympics over the nation's doping record but will leave decisions on individual athletes' participation with their sports federations, it said on Sunday.
The IOC+ 's announcement follows the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) call for a Rio ban in response to the independent McLaren report that found evidence of widespread state-sponsored doping+ by Russian athletes at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
It seems idiots are managing IOC shame
It is a ridiculous and horrifying idea to exclude Russia
Good decision by IOC as only guilty athletes should be punished & not all or entire country.
candu with time
There was no need for the blanket ban on Russian athletes based on some Pressstitutes findings.
Not also proper to deny the entire team because of some black sheep.Tests can be done on the spot in each case
Sports events are conducted worldwide to encourage fraternity among the people of different nations. Olympic Games aren''t an exception to this rule. So much so all interested nations including Russia, be given opportunities to participate in the Olympic Games.
FINALLY SOME SENSE HAS PREVAILED.
IF IOC BANS RUSSIA , RUSSIA MUST BAN OLYMPICS ...
WE ALL KNOW HOW USA SUPPORTED THE CHEMICAL JOYNER SISTERS..
IOC has withheld tremendous pressure from some countries to ban Russians.Hope we can see russian athletes like Isanbayeva also in Rio Olympic games
It is foolish to ban the entire Russian contingent for few athletes who were found using banned substance.Winter games are quite diffeent than summer Olmpics. If the Russian athletes were found guilty during winter games held at Sochi, why the summer games at Rio be effected?.In any case, the athletes participating in summer and winter games are quite different.Any Olympic meet without Russian participation is unthinkable.IOC,should allow Russian sportsmen/women to participate in Rio,Brazil.
No blanket ban. Please test each athlete and allow those who are clean. Donot want to miss real sports like yelena isinbayeva
seems some good sense has prevailed in IOC.....or else would have land up as puppy in hand of west & US.....sport should be away from politics....
Doping is a wide spread menace in several countries & banning only Russia is a bit unfair.Let all the athletes qualifying for Rio olympics can be tested & if any body is found guilty that athlete be banned.
