NSG row: India ‘still stuck’ in 1962 war mindset, says Chinese media
Criticising the strong reactions from India over China blocking its bid to enter the Nuclear Suppliers Group , a state-run daily on Monday said India is “still stuck” in the 1962 war mindset as it called for a more objective evaluation of Beijing’s stand.
“The Indian public seems to be having a hard time accepting the outcome of the Seoul plenary meeting of Nuclear Suppliers Group late last month after India failed to gain entry into NSG,” an oped article in Global Times said.
“Many Indian media (outlets) put the blame on China alone, accusing China’s anti-India and pro-Pakistan motives behind its opposition. Some activists even took to the streets in protest against China and Chinese products and some observers said the incident would freeze the China-India relationship,” the article titled ‘China, India should drop obsolete view for cooperation’ said.
The article asserted that “India’s precautions” against China cannot be clearer.
The country seems to be “still stuck” in the shadow of the war with China in the 1960s and many still hold on to the “obsolete geopolitical view” that China does not want to see India’s rise, it said.
“However, New Delhi may have misunderstood Beijing, which can make a big difference in its strategic decisions. In fact, China no longer looks at India simply from a political perspective, but far more from an economic one,” the article said.

Despite all its blemishes and shortcomings hard times or soft times ,they will get lived in India . No country remains stuck ever.True 1962 was disaster to India. India had move on and moved on, overcoming the failure to explode a nuclear Bomb by the man who matterd in India when Homie Bhabha at the helms was saying we can have a nuclear test within 18 months if decision is made.France when not a NPT signatory can become a member of NPG but not INDIA is China’s self serving hegemonism .
China champion of equality of nations has been on board with the western world in blocking India’s scientific needs. proclaiming that hat some nations like China are responsible and some nations like India are not in Nuclear proliferation matters.NPT is blatant one sided ,unequal like the stand of some countries on carbon emissions.China better burry the NPT and think afresh. You had gone on board with the USA when that suited your hegemony interest .
Then you did not feel spoiled by the west and now you feel that for India China is great. Chinsese people are really good people .The Chinese Government decisions in opposing Indian interests doesn’t reflect it. Someone in China,I read ,had said”1962 shouldn’t have happened.” He added reasons That was a well intended statement. CHINA, INDIA be frank with each other and do fair play and live as friends- not show as friends -for ever . R.PONNAMBALAM
