As of Thursday, Emma Morano is the onlyperson on Earth who was born in the 1800s. She credits her longevity to hervery bizarre diet.

The 116-year-old Italian woman isn’tgluten-free, vegan, or Paleo. She’s not gulping green smoothies or snacking onsuperfoods. Morano told the Associated Press sheeats two raw eggs a day. Yes, really.

Since developing anemia as a child, Moranohas been on the raw egg kick. It was her doctor who suggested she should addthe eggs to her diet when she was just a young girl.

“He told me to eat two or three eggs a day,so I eat two eggs a day,” she said.

Morano’s secret doesn’t mean we should allbe slugging back egg yolks in the name of health. Even though instances of egg-relatedsalmonella have reportedly decreased since 1998, eggs for humanconsumption are probably better off cooked, because hey — why risk it?Plus, onestudyfoundthat egg protein is more digestible when cooked, yet another compelling reasonwe should fully cook our omelets.

Whether or not raw eggs are all they’recracked up to be (had to), Morano’s old age isn’t out of the ordinary forItaly, where there are a number of centenarians. In one village, there areroughly 300 people over 100 years old, NPR reported.

不论生蛋是否具有这般功效,但是Morano的年纪在意大利并非稀有,意大利有好多百岁老人。在其中一个村庄,有大约300人在100岁以上,美国国家公共电台报道。

Home cooking in Italy is nothing like"Italian food" in the USA...lots of fresh produce and fruit isstandard fare on a daily basis. The typical Italian food served here would beconsidered overly rich or only seen on special occasions.

意大利的家庭烹饪根本不是美国的“意大利食品”那样。。。那里有很多新鲜农产品,而水果也是每天的标准食物。如果将典型的意大利搬到美国的话,美国人会觉得太丰富了吧,或者说在美国你只能在特殊场合才能吃到典型的意大利食物。
