Is this the best way to breastfeed on a bus? Seats with ‘privacy curtains’ are offered to new mothers on public transport in China
A Chinese city has launched dedicated breastfeeding seats on its buses to give mothers some privacy in public.
A local bus company in Pingxiang, south China, has installed the seats on 10 of its vehicles so far on a trial basis, according to People’s Daily Online.
If the seats prove to be successful, it hopes to expand the design to other buses in its fleet.
The new designs were unveiled on March 29.
It’s simply a single seat with curtains that can be drawn around it, separating it from the rest of the vehicle.
The 10 buses fitted with the special ‘cubicles’ will be operating on routes five, six, seven and eight.
When it’s not being used by a mother for breast-feeding, it can be used as a priority seat for people who need it.
