New Delhi:With India's relations with Bangladesh on an upswing, New Delhi has expressed interest in developing the neighbour's newest deep sea port, Payra.
It's a big move by India and an expression of the trajectory of strategic ties between the two countries. Separately, Japan may develop another deep sea port, Matarbari, in Cox's Bazar.
As the Asian allies synergise converging interests, Bangladesh has quietly killed the Sonadia project in Cox's Bazar, which was to have been developed by China.
For India, the Sonadia port, as the Hambantota and Gwadar ports, were deemed to be part of China's much talked about "string of pearls" strategy to encircle India in its maritime neighbourhood.
Very good foreign policy.
good news for Indian companies.
Indeed a good strategic move by the Modi Govt. The relations with the neighboring countries such SL and Bangladesh were spoiled during Congress regime. India must use all mechanism to corner China as much as possible. Hope, that the relations with Pak also improves and the Modi Govt. puts a full stop to the Chinese development in POK.
Bangaladesh for creation of which India has contributed a lot, should be grateful enough to its valued and respectable neighbour India by being ever friendly and looking to them for all their projects. Unlike other countries, India does not have any motives with its neighbours except friendship which is not understood properly.
Modi Bhakt are self petting. It the Strategy of US & Japan to isolate China in this region and give peanuts India . We should be happy to the extent that no china effect in our region no because of us but super power politics.
The Chinese' 'string of pearls' policy to contain India's maritime boundaries needs serious effort to counter. Good that the self serving Congress and its satellites are booted out or they would still have been busy looting India dry.
China should quit this strategic region as soon as possible
Corrupt quit India
China should understand that it is neighbor to India and it should not fight with India. Our competition is with US and other developed countries.
nice ,,, our relation is improving
The Common Man
Its nice to see that Bangla depending on India rather than China..
Yet another milestone in the development of cooperation between India and Bangladesh. Strategically it is a very great step. Well done Mr Modi
Chinese always think they are too smart. They are smart only as long a stupid UPA is in power in India.
