NEW DELHI: India is set to make a strong bid to host its first ever G20 meet, seven years after the group began to play an active role in shaping international economic policy following the 2008 financial crisis.
The proposal which needs to be endorsed by G20 members is seen as the Modi government's move to pitch the country into the big league, especially at a time when the Indian economy is seen to be more attractive than that of China, the host this year. The G20 bid is also aimed at attracting convention traffic to India to create jobs and expand tourism opportunities.
I wish India do not bid for this! It is going to bring bad name for India . We do not have a world class convention center with top class hotels and airport nearby. Even if meet this, how safe is Delhi for women and the air to breath. India could promote a tourist island for this, preferably in the Andamans or another state
we will host it in Goa, fresh air, nice beaches, resorts and nightlife
Good idea, but can the airport there handle such a huge inflow of dignitaries and officials accompanying them? Are there enough hotel facilities?
G-20 is not olympics man .... each country will send no more than a 100 delegates ..... you think that we can't handle 2000 guests?
The government of India should seriously think of hosting the event in North Eastern States which is totally neglected so far. Having such a big event would change the face of North East that would boost tourism as well
Good move we have great places and we are very good tourist nation too...hope Modi can make a breakthrough
India must provide security to them
great , today eye of world on us
