BEIJING: After losing out to Japan to build India's first bullet train network, China today said it has still kept its options open to pursue cooperation with India in the high-speed rail sector as it is carrying out feasibility studies in two different corridors in the country.

"Countries in Asia have been developing infrastructure to support their further development," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a media briefing here.

He was responding to a question about India-Japan agreement to build a bullet train corridor in the 500 km-long Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor during the just-concluded visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India.

Japan offered USD 8.1 billion financing on easy terms for the USD 12 billion project.

"China also has high-speed railway co-operation with India. We would like to work with the Indian side to promote cooperation in the relevant area," Hong said.

就印度首条高铁的建设输给日本后,中国今天表示与印度合作的门仍然是打开的,中国正在对印度两条高铁进行可行性研究。

亚洲国家发展基础设施,促进本国的进一步发展,中国外交部发言人洪磊在一场新闻发布会上说。

China's policy with infrastructure construction with India should be based on the win-win principle. Any deals based on India win but China lose is unsustainable. It should also be remembered that finance is only one aspect of the high speed rail equation. India needs to consider that China has more advanced technology, more experience in building HSR under all sorts of geographic and climatic conditions, economy of scale, cost of construction and speed of executing the project. To verify whether the above is correct, India should send experts to both China and Japan to study their relative merits.

China should be shown its place and stop trying to bully others including India.They know if they don't get into Indian market of 1.25 crore population they will be big losers and their Economy will have effect.India should stop imports to correct the balance of payments.
