NEW DELHI: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is now going to recruit women officers in supervisory officers rank - assistant commandments as well - for leading the battalions. This was announced by the ITBP chief Krishna Choudhary during the force's annual press conference on Tuesday.
While talking to media at the ITBP headquarters in the national capital, Chaudhary said that the ITBP even plans to have one-third of the border force as women officers. They will serve the nation on the border posts alongside men in extreme climate conditions of China and Sikkim. In fact, 500 newly recruited women officers are already under training by ITBP.
Speaking of the attitude of our neighbour and the situation at the India-China border, Choudhary said there were no problems on the either side of the fence. He added that whatever differences arise, they are due to "difference of perception".
"We should not become warmongers. We are there on the border to guard, not to fight," he said.
ITBP will soon have 40 more border posts and 12 staging camps in eastern sector of border, primarily Arunachal Pradesh. The force has also procured 4,830 night vision devices worth Rs 81 crore for its operations on the border.

All they seem to be thinking about is having some good time......
You are a pervert and think that women are for enjo*ment only. Your mother and your sisters are women too. Before commenting think about the implications.
Actually you need to read about events of harassment in armed forces
It is still better than what happens to them in offices all over the world. Nirbhaya was raped in a bus at night. This doesn't mean that women stop stepping out of their homes. It just means that security has to be improved for them and they have to learn self defence. However, if the women workforce increases in numbers across all sectors, Defence, Government, semi & quasi government and private, the atrocities will dip substantially. How long will you keep women under the purdah?
yes now our javan will enjoy free s*x
can say anything
We need to give equal share and power to women. But all said and done, man and woman are two biologically different ones and woman are at some disadvantage when it comes to manual task in some areas. We can give more share to them in areas requiring passion and intelligentsia. Good luck to the girls.
