NEW DELHI: Minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju landed in the midst of a fresh controversy over comments that he agreed with former Delhi lieutenant governor Tejinder Khanna that north Indians take "pride and joy" in breaking rules and his advice to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to correct his approach before blaming the police for lawlessness in the Capital.
Rijiju's remarks came in the context of Kejriwal's demand that the police be placed under the jurisdiction of the Delhi government and his political campaign targeting the police and the Centre for not being able to prevent crime, particularly against women.
That's a harsh truth many won't like.
As North India I can say that he is absolutely right. South and North east people are best when it come to abide by law.
As a North Indian, I agree with this statement.
north indians r a special breed. no respect for women, no respect for anybody
Thats the fact... not only North but every Indian including knows how to break it as its in our blood... what he spoke is truth...
Need of the hour is reforms in police department and digitizing all documents.
South Indians are the best. Most of them follow the traffic rules and law abiding Citizens of the country. North Indians are very hot headed. Always try to rub on the wrong side.
ARUNA V KULKARNI
bitter truth as they are near the capital city.
Sorry Rijju. Its not just North Indian. Almost all Indians like breaking rules and no one is different when it comes to not following rules
What about people from western india.....Shiv Sena ...etc. Any respect for law there??
I agree. I am from the North and can vouch for the truth of this observation
I am also north Indian and living in NCR for last 16 yrs. My observation and experience is not different from Rijiju. We need to change ourselves to see the positive change in society.
