WASHINGTON: Two television journalists were shot to death by a co-worker during a live broadcast from a strip mall in a small Virginia town, a stark reminder of America's familiar problem with guns and racial tension as well as the physical dangers that reporters face. The co-worker gunman later shot himself dead after a police chase.

The two journalists, Alison Parker, 24, a general assignment reporter, and Adam Ward, a 27-year-old cameraman, both from CBS affiliate WDBJ7 in Roanoke, were covering a story at Bridgewater Plaza, a lakeside shop and recreational sports complex, when they were ambushed by the African-American gunman.
