BEIJING: China launched two new satellites into space on Saturday, state media reported, as it builds a homegrown satellite navigation system to rival the US’s Global Positioning System.
A rocket carrying the satellites was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwestern Sichuan province at 8:29 pm (1229 GMT), the official Xinhua news agency said.
The satellites are the 18th and 19th launched by China as it develops its domestic navigation system Beidou, or Compass. They take the total number launched this year to three.
Beidou is currently centred on the Asia Pacific region but is slated to cover the whole world by 2020.
“The successful launch marks another solid step in building Beidou into a navigation system with global coverage,” the satellite launch centre was quoted by Xinhua as saying.
Use the Chinese GPS and you will end up in Timbuktu if you ask for Trivandrum!
Do you understand what you are talking about .. This is not a paan shop gossip
very funny.. jealousy has no bounds and no medicine.
We also have a similar project. Called IRNSS, India’s very own version of GPS. We have launched 3 satellite already out of 7. Though India’s system focusses on subcontinent region only.
yes. but not sufficient.
Space research & satellite launching is one area where India is still considered superior than China. Hope with launching of Mr. Modi’s “make in India” initiative India will also surpass other sectors except their cheap but unworthy product sector.
china don’t even count india in anything technology… they are eying Russia and usa… india?????
Your comment exposes your ignorance. China is in fact far ahead of us in space achievements, capabilities and indigenous space technologies. China’s rockets have much higher lift capacity; and the Chinese have mastered cryogenic engines for decades. They have a variety of carrier rockets, including highly reliable man-rated rockets and manned spaceships, and have soft landed a rover on the moon, not to mention sent men and women to their own space station.
but failed to reach mars! Actually, they purchased total soyuz space system including its structures from near bankrupt russian republic. They are also master in re-engineering. So, simply equating with them with us is not proper. India has a separate goal in space programme than theirs. They produced a sat killer rocket ignoring all the international space acts. We did not.
Jacob is still reading kindergarten stuff . His low IQ combined with watching kddie cartoons developed in the 1930’s makes his ignorence propel him to great depths of stupidity.China is a world leader in space and India is way behind in both space technology and rocketry.Maybe this guy is talking about Vedic space stuff in which field we are way ahead HHAHAHAHAHSA
China will soon finalise the system n Pakistsn will beg n get advanced systems for their military for pennies. while India will keep launching satellites for INSS every 18 months n by the time will be up n running it will be outdated..
