外文标题：Chinese military research academy praises India's Arjun tank
BEIJING: India's indigenous main battle tank Arjun was today praised by a top Chinese military official who said it is "very good" for Indian conditions as the PLA for the first time opened its facilities for Indian media to provide an insight into its massive modernisation.
In a sign of improved military relations, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) opened the doors of the key military institute -- Academy of Armoured Forces Engineering -- which trains over 6,000 cadets per year to the a team of visiting Indian journalists.
Asked for his impressions of the Arjun battle tank developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Senior Colonel Liu Degang, deputy commander of the Academy which keeps a close watch on the military hardware of India, said it is "very good" and suits Indian conditions.
The Arjun is a third generation main battle tank developed by DRDO for the Indian Army. It is powered by a single MTU multi-fuel diesel engine and can achieve a maximum speed of 67 km/h and a cross-country speed of 40 km/h.

Really? IS not sarcastic?
Pratik Ambani (Unknown)
why can't india keep it a secret!
Sahil Roy (Mumbai, Maharashtra, Ind) replies to Pratik Ambani
India should keep secret the fact that 75% of Arjun Tank fleet is grounded due to technical reasons. The Chinese General was probably sarcastic in his comments. Everyone knows Arjun tanks are marred with lot of issues and if they really have to be deployed in action, then God save us.

What is behind this praise. Is it to confuse or derail our effort to improve our systems further.
China will have praise many things in India in near future

Chinese praise was more of diplomatic than Technical.

We are way behind in our defence manufacturing and will take us decades if we can even catchup with China as no nation will give her techmnical know how for 49% equity. We hve to waqke up and let private sectior take active role in it. Did anyone read the words by Chines leaders as he said" IT IS GOOD FOR INDIA" but didnot say it is a world class tank. So let us not get carried away as we need improvements and how many diffeent parts are imported???

clearly the chinese want india to have the worlds biggest junk yard of fighting vehicles - this so called mbt has been in the works since the 1960's - th earmy is calling for vendors to bid for a new tank - and we are excited over this piece of junk.

With Indian intiative 'Make In India' in defence production, India is quite likely to overtake China in manufacturing defence hardware. The very fact that China is still busy testing its 1st Aircraft Carrier, whereas India is putting up super structure on its 4th (1st one is sent to scrapyard) speaks volumes on India's preparedness...
