BEIJING: China plans to drop the entry permit requirement for Taiwan residents visiting the mainland, the official Xinhua news agency cited a senior Chinese politician as saying on Sunday.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of China’s National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, made the comments at an annual forum between the mainland and Taiwan, Xinhua said.
Taiwan and China have been ruled separately since the Communists defeated the Nationalists and took power on the mainland in 1949, though relations have warmed considerably since the China-friendly Ma won the presidency in 2008 and secured re-election in 2012.
However, there have been no political talks and deep suspicions exist on both sides, especially in proudly democratic Taiwan.

So after Hong kong, bells are ringing for Taiwan.

Another dual-faced act from China – in the garb of waiving the permit requirement, the dragon is subversively conveying that Taiwan belongs to the Chinese mainland. They had tried something similar with Arunachal Pradesh when they wouldn’t issue official visas to the Arunachal residents.
just show off
A large section of Taiwanese are against China. People against China are our friends. Buy Taiwanese instead of Chinese. Strengthen their economy as much as possible as they need resources to take on the Chinese.
Taiwan will eventually become a part of China. Just a matter of when and in what form. Maybe China will concede to greater autonomy to Taiwan, a bit like the One Country Two Systems policy they follow with HK and Macau.

Never believe China as their friendship is to acquire the territories of others on the giuce of friendship

This is a positive sign and expression of positive attitude by Chinese Com…ty Government. May be, sooner they will bury the hatchets and reconcile to status quo.

This is not a positive step. The act is an assertion by China that Taiwan is essentially part of the Chinese territory.
