MADURAI: A 25-year-old woman separated from her husband on Wednesday burned him and six of his family members, including three minors, to death in Madurai's Kumarapuram village. Pandeeswari later surrendered before the police.
A woman involved in a marital dispute allegedly set fire to her in-law's house, leaving her husband and his six other family members dead in a village at Kumarapuram in the district in the wee hours today.
In the small hours of Wednesday, Pandeeswari locked the door of her 27-year-old husband Kannan's house from outside, trapping him, his parents Velu (65) and Pachiammal (50), his sister Sugandhi (35) and her three minor children inside.
Dispute between husband and wife was suspected to be the reason behind the act, Police Inspector Manoharan said.
Kannan (27) and Pandeeswari (25) were married few years ago but were living separately following some differences for the last one year.
According to the police, Pandeeswari was reportedly angry at Kannan's refusal he reportedly refused to move back in with her. The couple had got married three years ago, but had been living apart for the past one year. Agencies
