外文标题：India’s GDP growth rate has overtaken China: Manohar Parrikar
PANAJI: Defence minister Manohar Parrikar said that changes rung in by BJP government have shown results and India has taken over China in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) growth.
Speaking to mediapersons at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Goa, Parrikar said,”For the first time, the economy has been growing (In India). First time, we have overtaken China in terms of GDP growth.”
Parrikar was speaking to the press almost at the same time as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known to be close to him, left from China on Saturday.
Elaborating further, Parrikar said India has seen over 7 percent GDP growth this year while for the last two years, GDP growth was just less than 5 percent.
He also said that since BJP came to power on March 26, 2014 at the Centre, a lot of things have changed in the country and the benefits have percolated to a lot of people. “Inflation is under control and employment rate has increased,” Parrikar added
He also said the the economy is likely to grow and the impact of measures initiated by the union government would be seen in the near future.

It is too premature to bost about GDP growth rate higher than China and the benefits of lower inflation benefitting people. You must remember that China was a red hot econoy growing at a double digit rate for over a decade and then dripping below 10% mark. On the second point on inflation, the contributor is cheaper oil which has nothing to do with BJP governmemt. So we should take Parrikar’s speach with a pinch of salt.
it is childish to speak of having a greater economic growth than china. it would be even bigger if you compare it to japan or e.u. or usa. what sense does it make for a mediocre economy’s growth rate to be compared with a giant economy?

India is still developing and hence its GDP is on rise whereas china has almost attained a developed status and so its GDP and growth has become stagnant.

china is no where near the developed status .
