外文标题：Secret airport in China discovered after chopper crash
BEIJING: A secret private airport illegally built by a wealthy businessman in China was exposed after he crashed his helicopter, killing a passenger, state-run media said on Thursday.
Private aircraft ownership by China's wealthy elite has grown in recent years, but the military controls airspace and is reluctant to permit private flights.
A businessman surnamed Li crashed a helicopter into a reservoir when flying in the eastern province of Anhui last week, the Global Times reported.
Li - the chief manager of a construction machinery company who paid over one million yuan ($160,000) for his chopper - swam to safety but a 25-year-old male passenger was killed, it said.
Local reporters found a "hidden" airport nearby, spreading across 20,000 square metres (24,000 square yards) and protected by barbed wire, boasting three helipads and a 400 metre runway, as well as a swimming pool and log cabins, it added.
"Every single wall inside the cabins has planes painted on it and 'flying club' is written at the bottom of the swimming pool," the newspaper quoted a witness as saying.
Private aircraft ownership in China is low compared with other large economies, with just a few hundred said to be registered.

If a copter crash is able to find out such secret airport many such incidents should happen in different places of China so that many such airports can be located.
This is where flight MH370 landed.

secret airport? must be some other secret around
Seriously !!! A "hidden" airport !!! There is a saying in Tamil about trying to hide a whole pumpkin inside a handful of rice....:)
泰米尔有一句谚语说，试图把一个南瓜藏在一撮米中 .... :)

But the handful of rice you are referring to is actuall, whole of China. And the pumpkin, that is a helecopter or even the airfield is like a tiny dot.

On a quick read of the Header to the article one would have thought that a secret airport was discovered by a satellite imagery and (further) that it belonged to the Chinese Govt. Normally it is the Chinese Government which is secretive about such things. That this involved a private Chinese citizen is overwhelmingly complex to digest. Quite baffling.

I had the same thought. I thought it was something like a secret airport, run along the lines of CIA.

Private air field and the government had no idea... surprising.
