外文标题：China no more 'sweet' for Kerala comrades
ALAPPUZHA: It seems the comrades in Kerala have finally come out of the hangover of "madhura manonjha China" (sweet and lovely China).
Delegates who took part in the debate on international political scene at the ongoing CPM state conference here were dissatisfied with the functioning of the Chinese communist party, which the party had once hailed as the best model to emulate.
"A few delegates raised doubts about the socialist nature of many decisions of the party there. A few others doubted if China's policies could help the international Communist movement," politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said after the second day's debate.
Sources said the delegates picked on the fast pace of neo-liberalization in China and the exploitation of labourers in industrial zones. Many among these delegates were from the younger brigade, who wanted the central committee to study in detail the changes in the country.
Party general secretary Prakash Karat had, while inaugurating the CPM state conference on Friday, hailed China's economic growth. "In 10 to 15 years, China will bypass the US as the largest economy in the world," he said, adding that the recent efforts of the US to make India its strong ally were part of a strategy to contain China's growth.

Is CPM a party to reckon with? The CPI was the only party which Supported China when it attacked India in 1962. Later formed the CPM supporting the policies of Mao Se tung's China. Now the party has lost all its support base is nearly decimated. Still they have two communist parties here.

China's economic development is mainly due to centralized power and has never been based on socialist considerations. Our communist parties are already non-players in most states, only in a couple of states they still exist in numbers that matter.
