Patient has to be cut free from hishospital bed in China and forcibly removed by police after refusing to leavefor THREE YEARS
A court in Beijing ordered that the man, aged 55 and only known by his surname Chen, had to be removed from the hospitalafter living there for more than three years.
But when police turned up to at thehospital yesterday afternoon, they discovered that he had chained himself tothe bed railings.
Officers were then forced to cut the locks and remove a visibly distressed Mr Chen, who was still dressed in his hospital-issue pyjamas, and struggling withpolice.
Mr Chen was first admitted to the BeijingJingmei Group Hospital in August 2011 to receive treatment for injuriessustained in a road traffic accident.
After being treated, he went home after a month but two months later returnedcomplaining of pains in his left leg.
Again doctors treated him after he wasdiagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and three months later said he was ready togo home.
But Mr Chen refused, saying he was in so much pain that he was unable tostraighten out his legs.
He said it was the hospital'sresponsibility to take care of him and refused to leave, even missing his son'swedding.
The hospital stopped providing him withtreatment in July 2012, after he was unable to pay any of his medical bills.
They were then granted a court ordered earlier in the week to have Mr Chenforcibly removed from his hospital bed.
It came after tests were carried out thatshowed he was healthy, even though he disputed this.
It is thought that he was taken back to hishome in the Mentougou district of Beijing.

There are loads of people playing this gamein UK hospitals. These so-called "bed blockers" see hospitals as freeaccommodation and free food and are a growing problem.
