外文标题：China protests after suspected North Korean army deserter kills four
BEIJING: China has lodged a rare protest with the North Korean government after a deserter from its military killed four Chinese citizens in the border area in December end. The Chinese nationals were killed during a daring robbery by the deserter in the Chinese border town of Helong on December 28.
The deserter entered China in search of food, and later carried out the dacoity in the Chinese border city of Helong on December 28, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency said. Chinese foreign ministry said it has lodged a protest with North Korea over the incident. The country's public security bureau "would handle the matter in accordance with the law," foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular briefing while confirming the incident.
The deserter was caught by Chinese authorities, who have detained the deserter just north of the Tumen River, Yonhap said. The 521-km long Tumen River running along the border has been used by defectors and refugees as a breakout route for years.
But this is the first time that a case of robbery has come to light possibly because it involved killing of four Chinese citizens. The incident has added to growing irritance over North Korea in Beijing, which is Pyongyang's closest allay. Last July, Chinese president Xi Jinping broke with tradition going to South Korea ahead of visiting Pyongyang. South Korean newspaper, Dong-A Ilbo, said that North Korea had realigned its border troops after the incident. North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un has strengthened border security to prevent defections since he took power after the death of his father.
Fed up with concocted stories from communist party media! Is it possible that a man would desert army in search of food and go to that extent? Even in North Korea, at least the army is well fed.
End totalitarian regimes all over the world. Bring democracy.
Bush tried bringing democracy to Middle East. How is that going for you, so far !!!!!!!!!
China now has the issue with one of the 2 allies in the world i.e N.korea well the pakistan might be next on the list the cracks have been already seen
I dont know the history of that are but it seems ........China have border dispute with all adjoining countries
Already a deserter and now added this crime to his belt. If caught, then straight to the gallows! No way he can escape as the rulers very strict on deserters here!
