外文标题：Chinese media plays down Srikanth, Saina whitewash
BEIJING: Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal may have hit global headlines with their big wins against China's superstars of badminton but sadly they have not made it into the state-run Chinese media, which played down their herculean achievement.
Top English dailies like China Daily and Global Times which have big sports pages found little or no space for the Indian duo's whitewash of Chinese stars in $7 lakh China Open, while it found a little mention in the sports programme of the English CCTV.
China Daly completely ignored the event, while Global Times published a picture of China's superstar badminton player trying to reach a Srikanth volley.
But the media coverage has gone cold once China suffered a white wash.

We Indian love to make a Bollywood drama out of every trivial matter, but often end up making India looking stupid. China Open is one of the 15 badminton tournaments held yearly, it's not a grand slam badminton tournament like World Championships, Olympics, Asian Games, or Thomas Cup. Winning China Open maybe a big deal to India, a perennial underachiever in sports, but to major media worldwide, it is just another badminton tournament. Gosh!

Instead of sounding like a mouthpiece of some cheap chinese daily, would it not be nice if you could appreciate these sports persons showing their ability by beating opponents that too in China..... may I ask u if u even have the talent or ability to win a village tournament ? know village ? village means GAAANNNV........ I doubt if u ever played any sports at all... or do u feel happy by just posting negative comments ? any youngster reading your comment can only take negativity from it, you must be a very lonely pessimist person.

its not about china open , its about beating lin dan in his home , and we should know that you get same players to fight with in the tournaments you are talking about.

Lin Dan is probably the greatest, but he is not invincible, not player is unbeatable. And not to take away any gloss from Srikanth's admirable victory, Lin Dan was carrying an knee injury. If you watched the match, you'll know which Lin Dan showed up. If only this was a World championships or Olympics, but it's just another regular tournament.
