In about 30mts ride we reached the border town of Kodari, Nepal. Got our passports stamped (Departure) and got all the Nepali/Indian Rupees converted to Yuan. Once across the Nepal border we had to push the bike to reach the emigration centre of Tib. In the middle of the Friendship bridge the passports are verified for the first time by the Tiban emigration police (not the officer). They are very strict that we do not cross the red line (which marks the point of entering/departing Nepal) without them verifying the passport. Once you cross the bridge you reach the Tiban emigration (Chinese) office. We had to wait a long time for everybody to reach the emigration area. Then we entered the emigration office where all our goods were scanned and had to go through all the checks that happen during international crossing (like in airports). Added to that they even ask if we carry any books, cds etc (Chinese are really paranoid that any "Free Tib" or any other books/CDs might enter Tib). None of us did carry any such materials (We are Riders after all). Once all the goods crossed the border it was a long wait for the bikes to cross. After all the papers were verified, we did go back to the other side of the building via a different way (but without any goods - including gloves, helmets etc except the Passport). Pushed back the bike to Tib after showing the Passport.
It was 3pm by the time we completed all the formalities and started to ride. After about 30mts ride we stopped for our hurried lunch. The next 40 kilometres were steep ascent and cold did really hit us. By 7pm or so we reached our destination at Nym.
We got the rooms at the 2nd floor and it was very difficult to climb the stairs (lack of oxygen). We started from around 1700 mtrs at Last Resort and climbed to 3780 meters in about 55 kilometres to reach Nym.
After stowing away all the goods went for buying the local SIM and to have the dinner.
