njiang is one of the sparsely populated area in the world, not just in China. The size of njiang is 1.6 Million Sq km where as human population ests in less than 5% of that land. People living per sq km is close to 0.1. India would take atleast 50 years to catch up China if China stops all its development from now on, it's a huge gap, I never thought there was so much difference between 1st and 2nd fastest growing economies in Asia.

Yes though they are paid for that but peoples have no choice than to obey Gt order, someone or other has to stay in that desert to make sure the water wells are pumps are running. I mentioned there are are close to 100 such stations and all of them are manned. The building of Tarim Highway is certainly a wonder in engineering history.
