外文标题：China wants India in silk road plan
XIAN: Giving final touches to its most ambitious plan to build a wide network of new silk roads on land and seas to enhance global connectivity, China has invited India to join President Xi Jinping’s pet project that would revive the ancient trade route and benefit the region.
“From historical point of view India is the converging point of Maritime Silk road (MSR) and the ancient Silk Road on land. For more than 2,000 years India had very good exchanges with China through the passage of the South Silk Road,” Gao Zhenting, councillor, department of international economic affairs said. “So in China we have a belief that China and India both placed the trail of silk roads and MSR and we both have benefited from the roads,” Gao, who oversees the Silk Roads projects that involves a maze of highways on land and port connectivity by sea said.
The projects were expected to revive China’s trade links specially its sagging exports besides globally enhancing its sphere of influence. Throughout the history of Silk Road and Maritime Silk Road many scholars and businessmen from India visited China and still many Chinese remember the names of many of them and stories, he said.
Gao took a team of diplomats and journalists to showcase China’s preparations to build the New Silk Road (NSR) from the historic city of Xian, once the flourishing capital of imperial China. The road enabled China’s famous Buddhist scholar Xuanzang to visit India in 600 AD and return with treasure trove of Buddhist scriptures.
“The Chinese government believes that India naturally is an important partner in this One belt and One Road,” Gao said. “We are open to all friendly neighbouring countries to participate in this, but we will not force any one.”

I think the Chinese may have a problem with the shortage of women themselves.

CHINA Shall provide route from Tibet to India for cheap trade. Tibate shall be made autonomus and different nation then only it is acceptable

Interesting route with historical prominence. This should lead India’s produce directly pumped through rail and roadways in to Pan European markets as well as Middle East and Africa.

Offer is good India is any way benefiting, since China is already dumping goods in India. Which India is not capable of doing till date in China. .. … Now this will be an official invitation to penetrate business. .. … One other thing China is rich but it is culturally is not that strong and has limited strength, where as Indian culture has lot of variety and that can attract several business, e.g. Yoga, etc. India will definitely be in a win-win situation. .. ….

Let us hope that with the change in labour laws Indian manufacturing will revive to the degree where we can support these “open access” proposals, since they only work between “equal” economies. We are too far behind yet to do this.

I support President Xis proposal. If India and China work together they will be the SUPR POWERS of th 21st century. It will make people of both countries very proud. We share a common culture and civilization. Its time for Asia to Rise

Great idea and generous invitation too, however, it looks India need to deal with its security issues right now, which takes plenty of money and concentration. Perhaps India would participate in other joint projects with China later on, when the country is ready ! Meanwhile good luck China !

Spoken like the “Honorable” V.K. Krishna Menon who also trusted the Chinese. Learn form history.

Security and Trade can be dealt independently.
India need to calculate advantages and disadvantages on this project. As many Chinese products are flooding to India, when it comes to our products exports to China is very very less. We need to neutralize the import/export deficit by having futuristic plans in mind.
Majority of such roads will pass through POK. India should tread carefully as countries shouldn’t take it as India’s approval of Pak occupied Kashmir’s recognition as true Pak territory.

Sounds good indeed…..but too good…..Chinese talking benefit for others always smells of fish.

India must be cautions about this move from China. Doodh ka jala chach ko bhi phok phok ke peeta hai.
GOOD FOR TRADE !!!!!!! INDIA SHOULD GRAB THIS OPPORTUNITY ——— ——— THIS SHOULD BRING 2 WAY TRADE TO INDIA & CHINA !!

With China’s current position, it will be top beneficiary of proposed root.. India will also be benefited… India should accept the invitation and should study its pros and cons…. Mutually benefiting projects will also help in reducing bitterness between countries…
