BEIJING: The Indian IT industry, which has been eyeing the Chinese market of late, will have to sweat to gain entry, a top Infosys official has said.

“The knowledge base of the Indian companies is strong, but the customer base of the Chinese companies is very strong in China. The question is how to penetrate the Chinese IT markets, which are not enamoured by the big names of India,” he said.

印孚瑟斯一位高官表示,最近盯上中国市场的印度IT业将不得不“挥汗”进入中国。

他表示,“印度公司的知识基础很强大,但中国公司的用户基础相当强大。问题是如何渗透入并未受印度大公司所吸引的中国IT市场。”

In order to address the $35-billion trade deficit, India has been insisting that China open its IT market more to Indian companies. Chinese officials have maintained that there are no built-in barriers and the Indian companies have to compete in the market.

“There are some unwritten barriers in penetrating… and government projects. However, there is a lot more that can be done before hitting those barriers,” Rangarajan said.

为了解决350亿美元的对华贸易赤字,印度坚持中国向印度公司加大开放IT市场。而中国官员坚称并未设立障碍,印度公司必须参与市场的竞争。

“Market entry strategy is about positioning as an alternative to global IT providers, which are well entrenched in Chinese markets,” he said.

Infosys China itself has been experimenting with various models with some success.

The biggest problem with China is that they dont accept the fact that their ancestors were Hindus. Many a times during my Harvard days I would show my degrees and number of twitter followers to Chinese students but they never budged from their beliefs. Moreover the problem is they didn’t even accept my Brahmin superiority and in fact think they are superior than all of us including us Brahmins. You can see their behavior at our borders as well the way they take a joy ride inside our border to incite confrontation. I suggest we stop thinking of China and concentrate our efforts on Pakistan, Afghanistan, Srilanka and show them all how their ancestors were Hindus

Today Chinese IT market may be one fourth of US IT market, but we should not forget that soon this market is going to explode, as very soon Chinese business managers would realize that unless they leverage the advantages of IT fully in their all operations , their competitiveness in the international market would go down, and their industries would lose major markets.
