外文标题：India's Modi invites Nawaz to swearing-in
NEW DELHI: Indian prime minister-elect Narendra Modi has invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in ceremony next Monday, his party said, in a bold diplomatic statement that he intends to improve strained ties.
Nirmala Sitharaman, spokesperson for Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), told AFP Wednesday that all heads of government from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) “have been given invitations to be present at Mr Modi’s swearing in.”
The move, yet to be confirmed by Pakistan or other members of the eight-nation grouping, signals that Modi is intent on tackling India’s most troubled bilateral relationship at a time when Sharif is also keen on talks, analysts say.
“I think it is a very important gesture,” said Manoj Joshi, a fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, a New Delhi-based think-tank.
“It definitely shows Modi’s intentions to focus on immediate neighbours and it is a realistic signal; realism in the sense that unless you have good relations with neighbours you can hardly focus beyond,” he said.
I hope Mr. Sharif shows proper restraint and sends his favorite minister instead.
PM Sharif should go, hope it will be a good begining for both the countries.
That’s a very good gesture hope NS avail this opportunity for a new start for making this region hatred free.Haters gonna hate don’t listen to them.
Before our PM agrees to go attend the ceremony, he should remember that the former Indian PM had refused to attend our PM’s swearing-in ceremony.
Swearing invitation!! I wanna be in it!
Wow….Thats a dream come true for Nawaz Sharif……Even though invitation to visit Pakistan has been snubbed by INDIANS for pity issues I am sure Shuraffa will jump on the plane right away to appease their master.
Go Nawaz go , and learn from him.
Good Luck but dont expect miracles.
Seriously Modi is a changed man, he can definitely bring a positive tsunami into India and will have positive effects for Pakistan. In this complex world need someone like him to show the western world that it is the Asian century now and in the Indian subcontinent the India will pave the way for stability although there are many challenges ahead.
Nawaz should go. If he doesn’t, it will send negative impression indian PM won’t give this chance again. Grab the golden opportunity for brotherly relations
No need to go.
I hope after meeting him, Nawaz will be able to at least develop Pakistani Gujrat
Nawaz also invited Indian PM on his oath day
Nawaz should politely decline.
Manmohan rejected sharif’s request to participate in his ceremony, Now its time to pay back.
Our PM should thankfully decline the request.
Please do not go Mr. PM after all Indian PM didn’t come when you called him.
Its a good beginning and NS should grab the opportunity with both hands. It will be a diplomatic coup against the right wing and retrogressive hate mongers on both sides.
many of brothers saying indian PM didn’t came….simple question was he modi??? if yes then surely sharif should not go
Hope Nawaz Sharif remembers to take his polio vaccine before he goes
The chess game is between two equal weight opponents namely Li Keqiang and Narendra Modi.
There has only been media speculation about this, no official invitation has been sent yet.
afganistan president karzai confirmed and accept the invitaion without lossing time….
